The man – CARL UMEGBORO
CARL UMEGBORO, often pigeonholed a ‘man with a coat of many colours’ holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB-Hons) degree and, presently running a Master of Laws (LLM) programme in Colorado, a state in the Western United States, amongst other academic pursuits.
Umegboro is also, an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (United Kingdom), and has participated in some arbitration panels both within and outside Nigeria since induction in 2017. He is attached to the law chambers of Professor Abiodun Amuda-Kannike (SAN) & Co. [Legal Practitioners, Notary public and Arbitrators].
A prolific writer and public affairs analyst with propensity for burning sociopolitical and national issues, he has in his archive over 450 published articles in national newspapers viz. Guardian, ThisDay, BusinessDay, Daily Sun, Daily Times, Daily Trust, Punch, Nigerian Tribune, Nigerian Pilot, Vanguard, Authority, Blueprint, Independent, Triumph, The Nation, The News, The Tide, New Telegraph, and others.
In the international sphere, Mr. Carl as fondly called, has numerous published articles to his credit in TheWorldNews Network, New York Parrot; a notable media outlet in NYC, and Park Chester Times, also in USA, as well as many other reputable foreign media outlets. His articles and literary works are always reported after evaluation by the African Press Review in Kenya.
As a social crusader and activist, he has been a guest analyst to various TV and radio studios on topical national issues. He was the National Convener of the then Consumer-Rights advocacy group; ‘Coalition-against-Corruption-in-the-Power-Sector’ which unrelentingly fought against corruption in the power sector particularly arbitrary billings and intimidations on helpless citizens with protests to relevant authorities. He has also led and represented many electricity customers and communities at Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC Forum) over outrageous billings and other wrongs by Distribution Companies (DisCos) with positive results particularly in Lagos and Abuja.
As an adept believer in nationalism, rule of law and legal-positivism, Mr. Carl has impacted immensely on students, youths and the masses at every given opportunity across almost all the geopolitical zones in the country. A social activist in a tribute had once described him as ‘a one-man battalion (squad)’ on account of his unyielding spirit once on mission and motion. He is also a motivational speaker.
In addition, Umegboro is the CEO/Publisher, Carl Umegboro Online; an arm of Carlboro Limited (RC:500664), and a media consultant to many high-profile figures, and also in the external media team of some reputable organisations and agencies.
He hails from Ihiala in Anambra State in the southeast geopolitical zone of the country.
