The Imo State Ministry of Technology Development in partnership with the Bank of Industry, GT Bank, Google Partners and Wider Perspectives Limited today kickstarted a training programme for Imo based technology entrepreneurs.
In his keynote address, the Imo State Commissioner for Technology Development, Nze Meekam Mgbenwelu disclosed that the purpose of the training session is to unveil to young entreprenuers, the huge opportunity before them in the areas of packaging a business for funding, and the methodologies for becoming more effective business managers.
According to the Commissioner, his Ministry want to make Imo State a digital economy, put our businesses on the internet and teach digital skills to our businessmen.
Nze Mgbenwelu stated that his Ministry is training data scientists and also pushing artificial intelligence and machine learning radically to enable our emerging techno-preneurs earn high income.
He revealed that the biggest asset of Imo State is not oil, but the 66% of young people who make up the states population whose human talents are in abundance and needed to be upskilled and reskilled for pinnacle performance.
In his own contribution, Mr. Ndubisi Anyanwu, the Director General of Imo State Investment Promotion Agency ISIPA thanked the Ministry of Technology Development for bringing together entrepreneurs and businessess that are driven by technology. He said that the programme fits into the vision of the government to improve the welfare of the people by providing the enabling environment for Small and Medium Enterprises SMEs to thrive.
Mr. Anyanwu informed the trainees that the government has embarked on proactive steps through ISIPA to see that Ministries, Departments and Agencies initiate and implement programmes, projects and activities that will support SMEs.
Present at the occasion is the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Enlightenment, Prince Eze Ugochukwu.
