Supreme Court sacks Ihedioha of PDP as governor of Imo State, declares Senator Hope Uzodinma winner of election. Hope Uzodinma is now the governor-elect pending his swearing-in.

This is the first time that the Supreme Court of Nigeria has nullified election in an election petition.

Previous cases where persons declared by INEC were removed by the Supreme Court were based on pre-election cases (cases relating to primaries and right candidature) like the cases of Amaechi and the recent decision on Zamfara.
