PROFILE OF PROFESSOR VICTOR OBINNA NJOKU

Professor Victor Obinna Njoku hails from Umueziogwu Village in Uzoagba Ancient Kingdom of Ikeduru L.G.A. Imo State, Nigeria. He was born into the family of Late Sir Vincent and Lady Joy Njoku on 28th August, 1969. He is a Professor of Physical Chemistry and the Director of Research and Linkages at Imo State University, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria. He has previously served in the University as Head of Department of Chemistry and Associate Dean of Faculty of Science. He holds the degrees of Bachelor of Science (Hons.), Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy, specializing in Physical Chemistry. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and did his Postdoctoral Research at University of Science, Malaysia under Fellowship awarded by the Third World Academy of Science (TWAS), Trieste Italy. With a lecturing career spanning over twenty-four (24) years, he has successfully supervised several Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) students and so many students have passed through him at undergraduate level.

He is a Chartered Chemist; a Chartered Scientist; Fellow, Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (FICCON); Fellow, Chemical Society of Nigeria (FCSN). He is member, Royal Society of Chemistry (United Kingdom); member, American Chemical Society (United States); and Fellow, Institute of Industrial Administration of Nigeria; Fellow, International Institute of Microcredit Administration.

Prof. Njoku is presently the National Secretary of the Chemical Society of Nigeria having previously served the Society creditably as the National Assistant Secretary (2014-2017).

He is a distinguished and erudite scholar and has to his credit several academic articles published in reputable journals/ technical publications and has also published several mainline books. His research works have been presented in many international conferences and symposia across the globe.

Prof. Njoku is also the Worldwide President of the famous Archdeacon Dennis Junior Seminary (ADJS) Mbieri Old Boys Association. He is a Knight of St. Christopher (KSC) and the Secretary of the Council of Knights of Anglican Diocese of Ikeduru. He is the Secretary of Owerri Area of Scripture Union (Nigeria). He is a licensed Lay Reader/Evangelist of the Anglican Diocese of Owerri; a member of Owerri Recreation Club and a member of the Eze\’s Palace Cabinet of Uzoagba Ancient Kingdom. He is the Managing Consultant of Supreme A.T.S. Ltd. Okigwe Road, Owerri.

 Prof. Victor Obinna Njoku is married to Dr. (Lady) Chioma Obinna-Njoku, a paediatrician and they are blessed with children.
