The Executive Governor,
Imo State
Government House,
Owerri,

Your Excellency Sir,

Re: Suspension of Vivian Ottih by IBC Management

It is with profound respect and humility that we write on the above subject matter.

The attention of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Imo Council had been drawn to the suspension of our top ranking member and Chairman of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Comrade Vivian Ottih (Esq) by the management of Imo Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) Owerri over an alleged misconduct.

As a union, it is our core responsibility to look into issues that affect any of our member as their welfare is of utmost concern to us.

However, much as neither Comrade Vivian Ottih nor NUJ, IBC Chapel has informed the Union on the alleged face off between her and IBC management, the union wishes to appeal to Your Excellency to use his fatherly disposition through the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Hon. Mbadiwe Emelumba, to look into the alleged misconduct with a view to tampering justice with mercy.

We are passionate with this appeal more over as our leader and NUJ National President, Comrade Chris Isiguzo had also sued for peaceful resolution of the matter. It is said that to err is human but to forgive is divine.

While we look forward to a detailed report from NUJ, IBC Chapel and Comrade Vivian Ottih on the issue, we promise to do whatever is necessary to ensure its amicable resolution.

Your Excellency, the union is grateful that our colleagues and members are now happy with the revival of the flagship news media in the East, The Statesman Newspapers, which has now become a daily news tabloid.

We wish to commend the Commissioner for Information, Hon. Mbadiwe Emelumba, who is also a professional journalist, for his interventions that made this development a reality.

Your Excellency, Imo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and the entire journalists in the state are assuring you of our usual cooperation in order to realise the Imo of our collective dream.

Please accept as usual, the assurances of our warmest regards.

Yours sincerely,

Comrade Chris Akaraonye
Chairman
Comrade Juliet Dim
