In an emotional post on his social media handles the leadership blogger and publisher of Arise Africa wrote;

Happy birthday to Prof Bernard Thompson Ikegwuoha & Lovely wife as you celebrate today, we can\’t help but appreciate God for giving Imo people a mentor like you.

The history of my life, academic, social life will be incomplete without you. You have in many occasions demonstrated your love towards me without knowing my background.

Oh what a motivator I have found in you and what a mentor you have become to me. Not only a mentor but a role model, a friend and a source of inspiration to me.

You never discriminate and you treat every person equally. You shared spotlight with little me.

According to another of my Academic mentor, Prof BEB Nwoke  mentorship is  classified into three different levels: traditional, transitional and transformational leadership.

It\’s interesting to note that Prof BOT Ikegwuoha has touched lives at all these 3 levels of mentoring and has continued to do so. He would tell you \”what\” to do and show you the \”how\”s. He is a coach, wise counsellor and a facilitator. Through his transformational mentoring, he brought about transformational changes in the lives of people.

On behalf of my wife, Mrs Carol Anyanwu, our children and entire Anyanwu\’s family of Umuokeh Obowu, I send my warmest greetings on this occasion of your birthday.
Dear Prof Ikegwuoha, we join your family, numerous friends and well wishers to thank God for His mercies upon you and wish you many more fruitful life. I salute a mentor, hero Icon and a living legend of our time for making the trip around the sun one more time.
