…Says Imo State will become the largest producer, and exporter of palm oil in the whole world under his watch

In the spirit of Operation Win Your Polling unit, the people of Obowo today, came out en masse to welcome Senator Athan Achonu, the Labour Party candidate in next month’s governorship election in Imo State, and his campaign entourage as they stormed the local government.

The mammoth crowds of men and women, young and old were very delighted to receive the incoming governor of the state in their midst.

Addressing the excited crowd, Senator Athan Achonu assured that he has come to stop the killings and bloodshed going on in Imo State for close to four years now.
He vowed to make local government work for the people to ensure production, food sufficiency, and prosperity for the people.

He commended the good work of the late Dr. Sam Mbakwe to the Imo people and promised to wipe away his tears by surpassing his achievements and building the Imo State that will be the pride of all Ndi Imo.
Achonu also assured that he would transform the Imo Airport into the cargo hub of West Africa to create quality jobs, enhance productivity, and create wealth for the Youths of Imo State.

Speaking further, the lion, as he is fondly called by his supporters promised Ndi Obowo that he would engage with the management of Avutu Poultry, seek court settlement, and revitalize the poultry to a large visible agro-based hub.

The front-line candidate queried the whereabouts of the N91 million deducted from the local government fund monthly by Governor Hope Uzodinma, promising that his emergence as governor would end the embezzlement of local government funds.
Still on local government, he told the crowd that his administration would introduce, recruit, train, and equip 30 vigilantes in each of the local governments of Imo State for protection of lives and properties.

On Industrialization, Achonu reiterated his plan to build two industrial parks in each political zone of the state.

He asked the people to visit his hometown in Ehime Mbano to see his agro-based farm, with about 2000 direct jobs capacity, which is an example of what he is advocating. He said that such a feat would be done in all the local government areas of the state.

Senator Achonu commended the people of Obowo for their love and support for him in all his political journeys and assured them that his development plan would start from their LGA.

Amidst great cheers from the crowd, he said that he would leverage his good relationship with managers of intervention financial institutions to attract intervention funds for entrepreneurship and industrial development in the state.

He promised that all benefits accruing to Imo State from both national and international institutions must be attracted and deployed to develop the people and the state.

He encouraged the people of Obowo to stand firm and be strong, that those who having seen what Imo State has turned into under Uzodinma and yet calling for his re-election are doing that out of fear because they don’t want any evil to befall them or their loved ones.

Senator Athan Achonu received blessings from all and sundry, including an old woman Mrs Philomena Onukwubiri who taught him in elementary 3.

Several prominent Labour Party leaders and supporters of Senator Athan Achonu attended the rally.
