Born on July 7, 1981, into the esteemed family of Chief C.Y. and Dr. Mrs. P. A.N. Onwubuariri, Barr. Chijioke Ethelbert Onwubuariri is the third of nine children, including five boys. His father, a retired principal and the traditional Prime Minister of Amato-Amaraku Autonomous Community, and his mother, also a retired principal deeply committed to her faith, greatly influenced his upbringing.
Barr. Chijioke began his educational journey early, attending Umunkwo Primary School from 1987 to 1993, where he earned his First School Leaving Certificate. He continued his education at Innocent Comprehensive Secondary School, Ijeshatedo, Lagos, graduating in 2000 with four distinctions and five credits in his SSCE. He then secured admission to study Law at Abia State University, Uturu, where he graduated in 2008 with Second Class Honours, Upper Division. He achieved the same academic distinction at the Nigerian Law School in Kano and was called to the bar on September 4, 2009.
Following his call to the bar, Barr. Chijioke served in Osun State, Nigeria, under the NYSC Scheme. After obtaining his Discharge Certificate, he began his legal practice at IBB Madubuko & Co Chambers in Owerri. His intelligence and quick learning earned him respect, and he left a significant mark during his tutelage under I.B.B. Madubuko (Esq.).
With a strong foundation in legal practice and a passion for human rights and social justice, Barr. Chijioke established Onwubuariri and Onwubuariri Law Consult (Opinion Chambers) at 43 Okigwe Road, Owerri. His firm has become a well-known name within Imo State and beyond, thanks to his diligence, commitment to clients, love for the profession, and humanitarian efforts. Remarkably, he has not lost a case in his ten years of practice, handling each client’s issues with utmost care and attention.
Barr. Chijioke is known for his integrity, practicality, and openness. He is bold, compassionate, philanthropic, and a staunch humanist, always prioritizing justice over personal gain. His dedication to youth empowerment, poverty eradication, and good governance led him to found the Yagazie Obodo Dinma Association of Nigeria.
His contributions have earned him several accolades, including the Most Friendly Youth by the SUG, Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education Owerri, Ambassador of Peace by The Millennium Development Ambassadors Initiative, USA, and Icon of Pragmatism by the SUG Abia State University Uturu. He is also recognized as Okeosisi 1 of Atta.
In addition to his professional achievements, Barr. Chijioke enjoys indoor sports, traveling, and listening to good music. He is happily married to Mrs. Cindy Onwubuariri, and they are blessed with three boys and one girl.
