A Non Governmental Organization (NGO), whose objective is to promote the diversities as well as showcase the various potentials of the nation, has been launched in Umuahia, Abia State Capital, Nigeria with an assurance by the founding members to mobilize Nigerians towards patriotic consciousness.

Accordingly, the NGO, ASPIRE GREATNESS INITIATIVE (AGI), is structured to make Nigeria great again by uniting various interest groups in order to enhance peace, patriotism and justice for all irrespective of ethnic, political or religious leanings.

The Chairman Board of Directors of the group, Pius Nzewuihe and Barrister Oladokun Hassan…member Board of Trustees, said in a statement that AGI is a Non Political, Non Ethnic and Non Religious organization, pointing out that it was envisioned to “mobilize individuals, ethnic, political, social and religious groups towards national consciousness and development”.

Said Nzewuihe and Hassan, “Aspire Greatness Initiative is here to re-create the consciousness of nationalism and patriotism, while pursuing and encouraging peace, unity, and justice through engagement with various levels of governments and groups.

The youths of this nation who rank as “Tomorrow People”, they added, must be at the fore-front in this aspiration.

The duo in the statement declared, “Nigeria no doubt is a great and blessed nation, both in human and material resources, therefore we stand to discourage the skewed political, religious and ethnic considerations hindering our developmental aspirations, while we step further to recognize and award individuals and groups that encourage our developmental strides.

“Aspire Greatness Initiative has entered the Solution Arena as a Non Governmental organization to as well utilize its platform to engage Nigerians as to the way forward for greatness undermining our current challenges.

“We as well recognize the various policies and instruments from both private and public institutions addressing various issues of concern, yet we cannot deny the fact that we have not yet arrived. Consequently, peace, unity and justice remain the bedrock of our nation’s developmental objective and yet require more attention.

“Necessity therefore behooves on us all…adults and youths alike to step out and be counted to embrace Aspire Greatness Initiative in order to unanimously nurture a generation of Nigerian leaders and followers that will raise the bar beyond the factored impediments and move Nigeria forward (politically, economically, socially).

“In this wise, we shall be conducting seminars and workshops, have engagements with ethnic nationalities, religious groups, traditional institutions, academia, governments at all levels, civil society organizations, trade unions, youths, students, parents, etc for an All Encompassing approach to issues of national concern.

“Nations have gone through tougher times than ours and yet survived. Ghanaians were here in Nigeria as servants; Indians with Masters’ and Doctorate degrees were employed as classroom teachers many years ago. While working here, they aspired to get better. In these two scenarios they all went back home and rebuilt their countries. While India has now become a medical destination among comity of nations, Ghana on its part has excelled in academic pursuit among other areas.

“Summarily, Nigerians must Aspire for Greatness again in every facet of our lives: Economic and Social Development, Education, Medicine, Food Sufficiency, Sports, Art, Music etc.

“We must state without equivocation that God in His infinite mercies did not make mistake in locating Nigeria and its people in this part of the planet earth. Therefore, let us respect and acknowledge the Great God that can approve our ASPIRATION for GREATNESS.
