ONUIMO LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL RECEIVES 5.165b as 2025 BUDGETARY ESTIMATES

The Onuimo Legislative Council, on Friday, 24th January 2025, received a total budget outlay of five billion, one hundred and sixty five million, five hundred and seventy six thousand, four hundred and thirty seven Naira (N5, 0165,576,437) for the 2025 fiscal year, from the Executive Chairman, Hon Dr Emeka Obi.

The motion to usher in the Executive Chairman into the hallowed chamber for the purpose of budget presentation was moved by the majority leader and councilor representing Umuna ward, Hon Okoroike Sunnyken. After which the leader of the council, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Andy Maduako in his special address, welcomed the Executive Chairman and his encourage, which included the deputy chairman Hon Kelechi Ibegbu, Secretary to the Local Government, supervisors, heads of departments and entire staff of the council, into the chamber.

The budget which was christened “Budget of New begining” was read for the first time by the Chairman of Onuimo Local Government Area, Hon Chief Dr Emeka Obi.

The breakdown of budgetary outlay has recurrent expenditure at one billion, four hundred and twenty five million, one hundred forty thousand, fifteen naira (N1, 042,514,015 )while capital expenditure pegged at three billion, nine hundred and seventy four million, six hundred and twenty four thousand, twenty two Naira ( N3,974,062,422).

The Chairman, however lamented on the paltry sum of internally generated revenue of the LGA which its budgetary projection is one hundred and thirty seven million, six hundred and seven thousand, four hundred and seventy eight Naira (N137,607,478). Stating that the budgeting would be dependent on federal allocation and stat subventions, he decried that the advent of insecurity in the past in Onuimo LGA drastically reduced its the internally generated revenue prospects. However assured that this year would witness an upward improvements.

He enjoined the house to continue to be good partners in progress and see to the timely approval of the budget.

The leader of the legislature, Rt Hon Andy Maduako and the entire councilors who took turns to speak, commended the Chairman on the detailed presentation. The leader assured the Executive of the Legislative Council’s readiness to commit the budget through the required legislative processes and approval for the development of Onuimo Local Government Area and her people.

The budget was directed to the house committee on Finance, Budgeting and Appropriation to carry out their duty on the budget as required, by the leader of the Council.
