Today remains a painful and heartbreaking day for the entire people of Obowo and Imo State at large following the tragic and untimely murder of Miss Wendy Achumba, a young and promising Nursing student of the College of Nursing Sciences Umulogho.
Her unfortunate death in the hands of two heartless young men has thrown the community into deep sorrow, shock, and mourning. A beautiful future has been cut short, and a life filled with dreams, ambition, and hope has been cruelly taken away.
Miss Wendy Achumba was not just a student; she represented the hope of a better tomorrow, a young lady striving to build a meaningful future for herself, her family, and society through the noble profession of nursing. Her painful death is a great loss to the Obowo community, the academic environment, and humanity as a whole.
At this difficult moment, I strongly condemn this wicked and barbaric act carried out against an innocent young woman. Such evil has no place in our society, and justice must be allowed to take its full course to serve as a deterrent to others with criminal intentions.
I sincerely commend the swift efforts and collaboration of the Umulogho community, the vibrant youths, local vigilante groups, and the Nigeria Police Force for their prompt response and successful arrest of the suspects involved in this heinous crime. Their commitment and cooperation demonstrate that the security and protection of lives remain a collective responsibility.
May this painful incident unite us more as a people to continue speaking against violence, crime, and every form of inhumanity in our society. We must protect our daughters, our children, and our future.
To the family of Miss Wendy Achumba, the students of the College of Nursing Umulogho, friends, and loved ones, I extend my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy. May God Almighty grant you all the strength to bear this irreparable loss, and may the soul of the departed rest in perfect peace.
Justice must prevail.
