Maintain Focus To Achieve your Dreams by Ikechukwu Anyanwu

For you to achieve your dream, you got to maintain focus. I actually gave it a taught about leaving the hospitality industry. Where I have given my all over the last 16 years but couldn\’t  because I have a deep passion for it. I  truly enjoy what I am doing as a result of his message.  I would like to share it with all my friends at FB and blog

A dream is a very powerful tool and one of its effect is to constrain or restrain the dreamer and produce focus. A man with a truly great dream cannot afford to go everywhere, be friends with everyone, pursue every agenda; his dream will produce a certain degree of focus if he is to make it become a reality.

The story of Luciano Pavarotti, perfectly illustrates this fact. No worthwhile dream is achieved without focus. Luciano Pavarotti, the famous tenor singer, testified to this point when he said, “Hour after hour, day after day and week after week, for years, I practised. There were so many things that I wanted to do that I had to leave undone; there were so many places I wanted to go that I had to miss if I was to master the dream of becoming an acclaimed singer. The road that I travelled was a narrow road and the way was hard.\”
\”When I was a boy, my father, a baker, introduced me to the wonders of song,\” tenor Luciano Pavarotti relates. \”He urged me to work very hard to develop my voice. Arrigo Pola, a professional tenor in my hometown of Modena, Italy, took me as a pupil. I also enrolled in a teachers college. On graduating, I asked my father, \’Shall I be a teacher or a singer?\’ \”\’Luciano,\’ my father replied, \’if you try to sit on two chairs, you will fall between them. For life, you must choose one chair.\’ \”I chose one. It took seven years of study and frustration before I made my first professional appearance. It took another seven to reach the Metropolitan Opera. And now I think whether it\’s laying bricks, writing a book–whatever we choose–we should give ourselves to it. Commitment, that\’s the key. Choose one chair.\”

The truth is that a divided dream is like trying to sit on two chairs, you may have many goals and targets but ensure that they all lead or add up to that major dream that is the centre of your existence. That dream should be powerful enough to give you focus.
