His Excellency, Gov Emeka Ihedioha, has charged the Alumni Association of Imo State University, to champion the revival of the varsity.
The Governor gave this charge while declaring open the 3rd Annual Convention of the Association, held at Concord Hotels, Owerri.
He stated that he had asked the ministry of works to redesign the road leading to the university, to give it an aesthetic and appealing ambiance commensurate to a tertiary institution.
Gov Ihedioha urged the graduates to host their upcoming activities in the university, to give undergraduates who may want to join them upon graduation a sense of belonging.
Earlier in his welcome address, the National President of the association, Prince Ezeala Akano, thanked the governor for finding time to attend the event and assured him of the support of the body in the Rebuild Imo Project.
According to him, “the Alumni will support the government\’s laudable initiatives to rebuild the State.\”
On hand to receive the Governor were, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Viola Onuwuliri, the Vice Chancellor Imo State University, Prof. Adaobi Obasi, the Special Adviser Political, Hon. Jones Onyereri, SSA ICT and E-Governance, Hon. Abba Chimaraoke, Special Assistant Youth Affairs, Rex Okoro, among others.
