On September 26, at 9 am, Obowu people and their friends will once more gather at Obiri Obowu in Otoko. On this day, ONUGOTU Obowu Foundation will once again show all and sundry that there is so much a people can do for their community outside of government. OOF will on this day hold three major important events.
1. The second edition of its Leadership Training Program for Head students of secondary schools.
2. Unveiling of OOF cooperative society and giving out interest free business loans to many beneficiaries.
3. Unveiling OOF Skills acquisition program and giving out financial sponsorship to unemployed youths from all communities in Obowu.
OOF is a community oriented foundation established on January 22, 2017 by Ike C. Ibe to drive unique development ideas and programs in Obowu. Membership is made up of over 160 distinguished Obowu people in different parts of the world including leading professionals, eminent professors, community leaders, clergymen, business leaders and development minded men and women of Obowu lineage. In less than 3 years of existence OOF has additionally brought smiles to the community with empowerment of indigents, distribution of food supplies, payment of medical bills, putting roofs over heads, imparting knowledge and skills, creating wealth for the poor etc. OOF has been powered by millions of naira in donations from her members and leveraging on their networks. Several members have spent millions of naira and sponsored specific OOF development programs including a mathematics competition, tree planting, entrepreneurial trainings, leadership trainings, skills acquisition, house building for the poor, jamb and WAEC sponsorships etc.
OOF is run by a strong management council currently headed by Dr. Godfrey Nneji of Federal College of Education Akoka lagos with a board of Trustees made up of Prominent and respected Obowu people.
