INAUGURATES A STRONG MEDICAL TEAM FOR EHIME MBANO, IHITTE UBOMA AND OBOWO LGAs.
The member representing Obowo, Ihitte Uboma and Ehime Mbano in the federal house of reps, Hon. Deacon chike okafor, yesterday, in total support of the huge efforts of both the federal and state governments, to stop the spread of coronavirus, has constituted a strong medical team across the three local governments, for massive sensitisation of rural dwellers on the need for constant hand washing, distribution of hand sanitisers, free medical checks and other essential materials.
While inaugurating the medical team made up of seasoned public and private doctors and nurses, the head of Hon. Chike Okafor free medical outreach services, Doc. Mazi Ejikem, urged them to do their best in ensuring that the people of Okigwe south are properly sensitised on all preventive measures in order to avoid the spread of coronavirus in the federal Constituency. He asserted that World Health Organisation (WHO) and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), have emphasized so much on regular hand washing, with soap, as the best prevention, not just on coronavirus but to prevent other diseases that are injurious to human existence, hence the best form of cure is to prevent.
He disclosed that Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor has commissioned a total of 12 hospitals in the federal Constituency as Covid_19 centres, and recapped that the selected health centres will serve as first aid in any case of symptom or outbreak, before further referral to State and NCDC approved COVID-19 centres.
While speaking to the team, Hon. Chike Okafor, ably represented by his wife, Mrs Akudo Okafor narrated that in addition to the thousands of hand sanitisers and other essential materials that are already been distributed across the three (3) Local Governments, other relief materials such as rice, beans, noodles, etc, are on the way as palliative to hunger especially to indigents and the needy.
She constantly underscored the need for the medical team to sensitive people more on why they should wash hands often, maintain social distance, avoid crowding, avoid contact with sick people and to always cover their cough or sneeze, which are in line with government and public health requirements as global best practices towards the prevention and complete eradication of COVID-19 in the world.
