SUBJECT: JUNE 12: IMO OMPAN CELEBRATES WITH NIGERIANS AT DEMOCRACY DAY, CHARGES LEADERS TO OFFER DIVIDENDS OF DEMOCRACY

The Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Imo State Chapter joins Nigerians across the country to mark June 12 as Democracy Day in honour of the adjudged winner of annulled June 12, 1993 Presidential election, MKO Abiola.

Imo OMPAN congratulates President Muhammadu Buhari on the declaration of the day as the new Democracy day and  conferring a posthumous honour on the MKO Abiola to align to the truth which has for decades been covered.

We also congratulate the Thirty-Six (36) States Governors for their collective efforts to promote democracy in their domains through the Nigeria Governor\’s Forum (NGF).

The Association charges Nigerian leaders to work by the principes of rule of law, separation of powers, fundamental human rights, checks and balances among other makeups of Democracy world over in order to offer unmistaken dividends of democracy to the led without heating up the polity.

We urge you all,  both the lead and led to inculcate and live by the wordings of Nigeria National Anthem and especially not \”letting the labour of our leaders past to be in vain\” in all we do to make  Nigeria a better society.

We urge the people to always support the government as well as offer constructive criticisms where necessary to move the country forward.

Long Live Nigeria
Long live Nigerians

Happy Democracy Day.

Signed
