*To Whom It May Concern*

My attention has been drawn to a viral video  that is aimed at tarnishing the image and reputation of a Professor from Imo State University by depradors and puveyors of fake news with the view of getting traffic to their website.
The publication captioned \”Imo State University Lecturer Caught Masturbating\”
would have ordinarily been ignored but we wish to let the public know that at no time did any HOD  from Imo State University engage in such an immortal act not to talk  of making a video.
Some analysts in US has confirmed that the viral video  was doctored.
The doctored viral porn video was intended to tarnish the image and reputation of a man of Integrity for no just cause
Please the general public are advised to disregard the viral video for it is the product of mischief makers.
This was made known by Mr Ikechukwu Anyanwu,  Chairman Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Imo State Chapter.
Speaking with media practitioners in Imo, he frowned at the high level of fake news and junks that is being pushed out to the public these days
The Leadership of OMPAN decries the high level of fake news making rounds in society especially through the cyberspace.
Something urgent need be done to checkmate the system for a better society with credible information.
He also frowned at those who feed the public with such false information.
\”Publishing unverified stories just to gain traffic is an unprofessional practice that need to be jettisoned as it has done none any good.
People are crying out because of the damage cyberspace is causing
\”But I don\’t think they are the intention of the people that created it because anything that has advantage also have disadvantage and people are harping on the cheap disadvantages but I charge you to make use of the right reasons why the cyberspace was created\”
OMPAN will continue to chart the noble course of fighting fake news.
We occupy a very sensitive space in the growth and development of our society
Every information that is churned out now to the public should  pass through the necessary scrutiny that will refine and serve the society with what shapes the society.
Let it be stated that,  we will not be part of any cheap publicity, blackmail nor encourage such in our space
Signed
Chairman
