The serene city of Okigwe became boisterous on Saturday, as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Ikeoha Campaign Organization stormed the city to kick off campaign and present its candidate, Chief Emmanuel Okewulonu (Ikeoha), to the traditional rulers and the people of Okigwe Local Government Area.
The team which was received with rousing welcome by market women, Okada riders and all classes of persons, has it first port of call at the palace of HRH, Eze Acho Ndukwe, the chairman of Okigwe council of traditional rulers.
The traditional ruler who was flanked by other traditional rulers from the local governments, rained blessings on the PDP candidate, Chief Emmanuel Okewulonu (Ikeoha).
Eze Ndukwe assured the candidate that God will meet him at the point of his need.
He promised that the royal fathers will support him in his effort to liberate the people.

The Chairman of the party, Engr. Charles Ugwu, who was present at the occasion, said he came to tell the traditional rulers in Okigwe that PDP is set to take over the senatorial seat of Okigwe zone.
According to him, the PDP candidate, Chief Emmanuel Enyeribe Okewulonu, is.a collective choice of the people at the forth coming election.
He noted that since 1999 PDP has not been lucky to get a man of service hence the party searched deep to chose chief Emmanuel Okewulonu, known for his selflessness.
He described him as emphathetic humble, hardworking and eminiently qualified to go for Okigwe seat at the Senate.
The candidate, Chief Emmanuel Okewulonu thanked the traditional rulers and explained that he decided to vie for the position because of the good of Okigwe people.
He noted that other zones in Imo has developed accept Okigwe zone and wondered why.
The PDP candidate told the royal fathers that he is of Sam Mbakwe stoic, a man who understands that the reason for leadership is service.
He maintained that the Senate is not for puppet who will do the bidding of their godfather but requires a man of will who was moved to contest for the purpose of liberating the people.
He assured that he will make sure he attracts viable projects in Okigwe and place the zone in an enviable status among the comity of other zones.
Those who were at the event include Hon Ngozi Ogbu, a son of the soil who spoke glowingly of the candidate.
Others are former secretary to Imo state government, Barr Uche Onyeagocha, the former Chief of Staff to the government of Imo State, Barr. Chris Okewulonu, PDP Deputy State Chairman Chief Martin Ejiogu, the state organizing secretary, Nze Law Biaduo, the Director General of Ikeoha Campaign Organization, Sir Stanley Ekezie, all the deputy director generals among other dignitaries.
