PRESS RELEASE
REBUTTAL
RE: STATE OF EMERGENCY BEING PLANNED IN IMO STATE
Just this evening, our office attention was drawn to a careless, ridiculous and unwarranted publication made by one Ebubeagu Ekeulo from Amaigbo alleging HON. UGONNA OZURIGBO (OZB) involvement in nocturnal meetings to declare a state of emergency in Imo State.
We state with certainty that HON. UGONNA OZURIGBO (OZB) has not and do not intend to be involved in such nocturnal meetings. He is presently in the South East preparing for the ongoing nationwide constitutional review exercise and couldn’t have been in Abuja at the same time. State of emergency is not what Imo people need at the moment.
Truly, we are dismayed by such unguarded publication, most especially at this period of tensed security atmosphere in Imo state. People like Ebubeagu Ekenulo and his hirelings know that publications of this nature are capable of escalating tensions and throwing the state into deeper turmoil.
The present government in Imo State is for all of us; we have the collective responsibility to help it succeed and not to pull it down. HON. UGONNA OZURIGBO (OZB) has built bridges of unity across party lines and political divides in the state, more than any other politician. He keeps no political foe except those who see him as their problem. We urge us to disregard the referenced publication of Ebubeagu Ekenulo.
In keeping with the facts, we will not treat the wanton publication of Ebubeagu Ekenulo with levity. He and those behind his publication must be unraveled and treated as true traitors of Imo people.
Thank you.
