… Confirms 3 Commissioner Nominees


The Imo State House of Assembly (IMHA), on Tuesday, resumed plenary after about 2 months recess.
The Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr Anthony Emeka Nduka,who presided the plenary, in his address, warmly welcomed the honourable members and thanked them for electing him as the Speaker.
He described the plenary as significant for the reasons that it was the first sitting in the rebuilt state-of- the art Assembly and also the first time he will be presiding on the plenary of full legislative business since he assumed office as the Speaker.
Rt Hon Barr Nduka rained profuse thanks on Gov Hope Uzodimma for investing heavily on rebuilding a dilapidated House of Assembly Complex to world class standard.
He said, “at this juncture, we must thank God for giving us His Excellency, Distq Sen. Hope Uzodimma as Governor of Imo State. The successes we have recorded in Imo State , particularly the reconstruction of our Assembly Complex, would not have been possible without the patriotic zeal, insight, love for the legislature and dogged determination of our Governor to place Imo State among the best in the comity of states*
While praying for members vying for various political positions in the forthcoming election to succeed, he urged them to be regular and punctual to plenaries despite the tight campaign schedule.
Also the Deputy Speaker, IMHA, Rt. Hon Amara Iwuanyanwu, moved a motion to commend His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma for rehabilitating, furnishing and modernizing Imo State House of Assembly Complex.
Presenting the motion the Deputy Speaker said that the dilapidated Assembly Complex posed great danger to House members who were forced to relocate to makeshift arrangement before Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma transformed the building to world class.
Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu said despite unavailability of fund caused by dwindling federal allocation, the governor invested huge resources in rebuilding the complex.
The motion received wide commendation from the House Members such as Hon. Frank Ogbonma,, Oguta, Hon Uche Ogbuagu, Ikeduru, Hon. Solomon Anukam, Owerri Municipal, Hon Paschal Okolie, Orlu and Hon Cyracus Okoro Ohaji Egbema, all agreed that the governor of Imo State deserved kudos for rebuilding the Assembly complex.
Speaking differently, they said it is only a blind man that will remain indifferent to the handiwork of the governor on the complex.
Speaking also, Rt Hon. Paul Emeziem of Unuimo State Constituency, his Ideato South counterpart, Hon. Duru Johnson, Hon
Dominic Ezerioha, Oru West, Hon Chigozie Nwaneri of Oru East and Hon Uju Onwudiwe of Njaba, joined in arguing for the motion to commend the governor for a job well done.
They said that the building is of best quality and durable, typical of all Governor Hope Uzodimma’s signature projects. Hon Samuel Ogbunikpa of Okigwe State Constituency used the opportunity to also appreciate the governor for constructing Owerr Okigwe road. The
Also, during the plenary, members screened and confirmed 3 commissioner nominees whose names were forwarded to the House by the governor for screening and possible confirmation.
They are Hon. Emeka Okorokwo, from Okigwe, Barr Major Emenike from Onuimo and Arch.Chijioke Onumajuru.
Having successful scrutinized and examined the Commissioner nominees, they were asked to take a bow and were so confirmed.
