Imo State Chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has debunked the news making the rounds on social media that one Hon Emmanuel Agoha emerged authentic candidate ahead of Saturday’s election in Obowo State Constituency .
In a circulating report, which said court had sacked Hon Princess Nkechi Anyanwu-Mbachu as Labour Party Candidate having participated in the primaries of PDP before joining Labour Party which is a gross and flagrant violation of constitutional provisions of Electoral Act, 2023.
Speaking to our correspondence, a Chieftain of Labour Party, Rt Hon Barr Ike C Ibe debunked the news.
Similarly a Media Practitioner; Hon Finan Chuks debunked the news.
He said; “Hon Princess Nkechi Anyanwu-Mbachu is fully conversant of the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022 as amended and wouldn’t have done anything to violate such provisions.”
“To say the least, she is not a desperate politician and therefore couldn’t have usurped anybody’s position in the name of picking of Obowo State Constituency on the platform of the Labour Party.”
He said that she is still the flag bearer of the party on Saturday Election.
In recent development, a press release purportedly signed by Labour Party Imo State Chairman, Chief Dr Ambrose Onyekwere laid the matter to rest. He claimed Anyanwu is the valid candidate of the party as recognised by INEC.
