Obowo: APC Okenalogho Ward Meets, Passes Implicit Vote of Confidence on Governor Hope Uzodimma

History was made on Saturday 13th May 2023, as What set out as an All Progressives Congress (APC) ward meeting, hosted in umunnam village, Obowo, by the APC Ward Chairman, Hon. Ekene Magnus Ihekweme, turned out to be a festival of defections for leaders across various political parties in Obowo LGA as well as Confidence Vote on the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.

The ward meeting, convened by the chairman, at the instance of State leadership of the party had notable leaders drawn from the three communities that make Okenanlogho ward, being Umuokeh, Umulogho and Umuagu.

The anchor man of the meeting, Hon. Charles Uwadoka reiterated that the meeting was Primarily a regular ward meeting of party, and at such invitation was well circulated to every other party member, irrespective of level of commitment.

While the meeting was on, the member representing Ehime-Mbano, Ihitte-Uboma and Obowo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor was ushered in, and the anchor man, Hon. Charles Uwadoka, Hon. Vitalis Ebekuonwune and Hon. Chinedu Okeke, among others, hailed the effective leadership and representation of the Federal legislator, whom they said had effortlessly touched lives in every kindred in Okenalogho ward, Obowo LGA and Okigwe South Federal Constituency at large. They urged him to not relent in being good and doing good to all manner of people.

The meeting soon took a drastic turn, for good, as a gale of defections ensued, from notable politicians in the ward, drawn from various political parties, including Hon. Arc. Chidi Okeke, a former Special Assistant to Gov. Emeka Ihedioha of Traffic Management, Hon. Finbarr Obinna (Coordinator of the PDP candidate for Senate in the 2023 election), Chief Samson Nwayo, Ekweghariri Chinecherem, Accord party coordinator for Obowo LGA in the 2023 election, just to mention a few.

The decampees were welcome by the G.L.O of Okenanlogho ward, Hon. Magnus Ik Okeke followed by the APC ward Chairman, Hon. Ekene Magnus Ihekweme and the APC LGA Chairman, ably represented by the Vice Chairman, Chief Angus Nwankwor.

These decampees noted that at an elaborate event, on a later date, they will show up with thousands of their supporters to embrace the broom revolution under the able leadership of Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor and to support the good governance of the State Government led by Sen. Hope Uzodimma.

Hon. Arc. Chidi Okeke, a former PDP leader and close ally of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha moved a motion of endorsement for the 2nd Tenure re-election as well as a vote of implicit confidence on the Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma and the motion was seconded by Chief Ngozi Ejikem, another PDP leader. The motion was put to a voice vote by the ward chairman, Hon. Hon. Ekene Magnus Ihekweme and the “Ayees” had it!

Speaking on the occasion, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor stated that the achievements of Gov. Hope Uzodimma, in the last three years, has earned him a second term of office, and it is no surprise that Imo people, across political divides are now drumming support and joining forces with the APC to ensure the hitch free re-election of the Governor, come 11th November 2023.

Present at the meeting were members of the APC, Okenanlogho Ward as well as notable leaders, old and new, like Chief Ngozi Ejikem, Nze Mark Isikaku, Chief Richard Okonkwo, Chief Samson Nwayo, Chief Angus Nwankwor (APC Deputy Chairman), Chief Someon Amajuoyi, Chief Vitalis Ebekuowune, Chief Ebere Okafor, Chief Ezebunwa Nnadiegbu, Lady Charity Ukaegbu , Chief Linus Linbert Otumbadi Obasi (President General of Umuokeh Autonomous community), Ichie Nicholas Iroadinobi (Rep for Eze Uwalaka, Nzeobi Anayo Ajunwa (Rep of Eze Dr. Ifeanyichukwi Okafor of Umuokeh) Hon. Arc. Chidi Okeke, Chibuzor Anyanwu, Kingsley Anyanwu and Hon. Chinedu Okeke, among others too numerous to mention.
