Chief Emmanuel Okewulonu (IKEOHA OBOWO) a highly successful businessman. Senatorial Candidate of People’s Democratic Party Okigwe Zone Senatorial Zone and Amb Vitus Echendu -a Human Rights Activist was also given special recognition and award.

The event which held on at Obiri Obowo Hall was indeed a huge success.
You can recall that the group earlier in the year conveyed a public debate to give opportunity for the people to hear from all the candidates seeking for election so as to assess and make their judgement themselves.
The group had interactive session with Candidates who were running for Imo State House of Assembly.

Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and Member Representing Obowo IMHA; Rt Hon Barr Kennedy Ibeh, Princess Nkechi Anyanwu-Mbachu of Labour Party and Hon Nnayerugo Kingsley Iroanya (YPP) were unavoidably absent according to the Press Release by their media handlers.
Obowo is a place of ‘First’s , the first Lawyer in Okigwe zone( including Isuikwuato and Isuochi as it is now), the first medical Doctor in Okigwe zone ( including as above), the first entity or clan to organize political debates in the old Eastern Nigeria when Papa Obowo( TOS Ebere) organized it for Obowians who were contesting election in 1978. That pioneer outing helped Mbakwe during the actual elections in 1979.
Candidates spoke extensively and firmly on various issues and plans for Obowo if elected to represent the good people of Obowo. Namely; Job Creation, Empowerment, Education, Ecological Funds, Oversight Function of the Legislature etc
