VDM missed the point. Honouring and welcoming Our Daughters Is Not tribalism

VDM, your recent video blaming the Imo State Governor for hosting some of the Super Falcons players from Imo State is very unfair. You also attacked Igbo content creators for not speaking out,but what exactly should they be speaking against?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Imo Governor celebrating players from his state. These young women worked hard, represented Nigeria well, and made us proud. But they are also from Imo, so their state has every right to welcome and honour them specially. That does not mean others are excluded.
You made it sound like the Governor was being tribalistic, but that’s just not true. Hosting your own people who did something great is normal everywhere in the world. If players from other states were not welcomed by their governors, that is not Imo’s fault.
Also, there’s no rule that says all the players must be received at the same time in one place. These women are from different states. They may have gone home to their families first and any Governor who wants can organize their own event. Why should Imo wait for others before doing theirs?
Blaming Igbo content creators for not speaking against this is also not fair. What should they say? That their own sisters should not be honoured? That makes no sense. This kind of comment only creates unnecessary tension and division.
VDM, you have a strong voice and a big platform. But please use it to build peace, not to stir trouble where there’s none. There’s already enough tribalism and division in Nigeria, let’s not add to it with careless statements. Let us learn to celebrate good things without looking for problems. This was a proud moment for Imo, for the Super Falcons, and for Nigeria. Let’s keep it that way.
