A dedicated Nigerian nurse, Ahamba Chiamaka, a graduate of Abia State University, Uturu, is urgently seeking public support as she battles end-stage renal disease, a life-threatening condition that has left her dependent on regular dialysis to survive.
Chiamaka, known for her years of service as a caregiver who has comforted and healed countless patients, is now fighting for her own life after her kidneys failed due to complications arising from Lupus, an autoimmune disease. Medical experts have further confirmed that her condition is now affecting her heart, worsening her health outlook.
Currently, she undergoes dialysis twice every week, with each session costing ₦125,000. The financial burden has become overwhelming for her and her family, who have exhausted their savings trying to keep her alive. While dialysis remains a temporary lifeline, doctors have emphasized that it is not a cure and is physically exhausting and medically unsustainable.
According to her medical team, the only permanent solution that can restore Chiamaka to a healthy and productive life is a kidney transplant. However, the estimated cost for the surgery, donor care, post-transplant medications, and hospital expenses is put at ₦120 million, a sum far beyond the reach of her family.
Family members say her condition has deteriorated significantly in recent months, necessitating more frequent dialysis sessions and placing further strain on her heart and overall health.
A public appeal has now been launched to solicit financial assistance from compassionate individuals, organizations, and well-meaning Nigerians at home and abroad to help save her life.
