An Enchanting Evening with Mazi Ikenna Chiedozie Aniche, PhD
(Nke Nke Enyi Izuogu Gburu Gburu 1–12)
By Mazi Nwankwo Edwin Chigbo
It was an evening of rare conviviality and richly engaging, cheery-hearted conversations, an encounter that traversed life, business, politics, the economy, family values, and the deeper philosophical meanings behind his brand name Chimamanda and his given name Ikenna. The discourse also touched on Okigwe Zone politics and the broader trajectory of Imo State.
The Group Managing Director of Double Shillings Group, Dr. Ikenna Chiedozie Aniche, PhD, warmly hosted myself, Mazi Goodnews Chidi Nwankwo, and a few others at his palatial country home in Ndiekwuru Imenze, Arondizuogu, Okigwe, on a serene Saturday evening.
Interestingly, Nke Nke Enyi Izuogu Gburu Gburu 1–12 and I had shared the same Air Peace flight to Owerri a little over a week earlier. Upon touchdown, we exchanged light-hearted banter. I commended him for his courageous “bring-home” spirit, particularly his establishment of an ultra-modern automobile outlet in Owerri, his transformative interventions in healthcare through the Natalia Ezuma Maternal and Childcare Specialist Hospital in his native Ndiekwuru Imenze community, and the remarkable completion of the Double Shillings Industrial Complex, poised to employ over 200 youths.
We both agreed to continue our engaging conversation at a later date. True to his roots as the Clan Head, Akajiofor of the Aniche Ancestral Royal Dynasty, he chose to host us at his country home, as he intended to combine our meeting with time on his farm.
In the true Aro/Umuchukwu spirit of brotherhood, I picked up my colleagues from their Copperfield Hotel residence in Owerri, and we journeyed through the beautifully rehabilitated Anara–Okwelle–Okigwe Road, masterfully restored under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma, before arriving at the magnificent Ndiekwuru Imenze residence of this illustrious son of the soil.
Despite his towering accomplishments and growing political relevance in the zone, Nke Nke Enyi Izuogu remains remarkably humble, modest, and unassuming, a rare blend of greatness and grace.
Dr. Aniche, a man of distinguished heritage, regaled us with deeply personal accounts of his life journey, from his formative years in Owerri, through his humble beginnings as a bus conductor and later as an apprentice (“boi-boi”) to a prominent family, to his rise as a formidable entrepreneur and industrialist. Speaking candidly and from the depths of his spirit, he revealed stories he confessed had never been shared before.
He recounted moments of hardship, resilience, and divine orchestration, how pivotal encounters with a few benevolent individuals altered the trajectory of his life. His story is nothing short of enthralling a compelling narrative of grit, perseverance, unyielding hard work, and the boundless grace of God.
On his academic journey, Dr. Aniche spoke with clarity and pride about his multiple degrees and his PhD, alongside numerous honorary doctorates from reputable institutions across the globe. His intellectual depth was evident, his mind sharp, and his spirit animated as he spoke, occasionally pausing to attend to calls from his thriving enterprise, Chimamanda Exquisite Auto Mart, and its subsidiaries.
One particularly notable call came from a town union president within Okigwe Zone, who praised his bold intervention in addressing healthcare challenges and commended the impact of the Double Shillings Industries Limited Complex.
In a deeply reflective moment, he elaborated on the meaning behind his brand name Chimamanda, revealing that it encapsulates his personal struggles and triumphs from 2008 to date. He described it as a divine revelation, a theophoric name meaning “My God will never fail.” Rooted in Igbo tradition, it symbolizes unwavering faith, divine protection, and hope. He added, with heartfelt conviction, that should he be blessed with a daughter in the future, she would bear the name Chimamanda.
He also spoke profoundly about his own name, Ikenna, revealed to his late mother, Dame Chinyere Catherine Aniche, of blessed memory, at his conception. Meaning “the strength of the father” or “God’s power,” it reflects resilience, divine backing, and the preservation of paternal legacy. He noted that the name has shaped his identity, imbuing him with strength, influence, and steadfast resolve.
When asked about the woman behind his remarkable journey, he responded with humor and poise, hinting that the future queen of the Aniche Ancestral Royal Dynasty would be unveiled in due time.
Dr. Aniche further shared that his Nke Nke Enyi Izuogu Foundation, dedicated to supporting the needy and the elderly, will soon celebrate 27 years of impactful service, touching lives and spreading hope across communities. While he briefly alluded to visionary ideas for regional economic integration and development, he reserved the details for a more appropriate time.
In a moment of solemn reflection, he recounted a near-fatal accident on February 6, 2021, as well as personal trials including a failed marriage experiences that tested his faith but ultimately reaffirmed his divine purpose.
Yet, in all, he remains undeterred. Nke Nke Enyi Izuogu Gburu Gburu 1–12 affirmed that his mission is far from complete. His commitment to the growth of Okigwe, through economic empowerment, industrialization, and job creation, remains lifelong and unwavering.
Indeed, it was an enchanting evening, an illuminating journey into the mind of a visionary, a patriot, and an enigma who has often been misunderstood. His remarkable resurgence, anchored on resilience and strategic reinvention, is nothing short of extraordinary.
Super High Chief Dr. Ikenna Chiedozie Aniche, PhD.
Nke Nke Enyi Izuogu Gburu Gburu 1–12, is truly a distinguished son of Arondizuogu, a beacon of hope, and a testament to the power of vision, faith, and relentless determination.
