Vision Management by Ikechukwu Anyanwu

Vision Management
\”The vision that you glorify in your mind, the ideal that you enthrone in your heart, this you will build your life by and this you will become” Anonymous
Yesterday, I trained some of my team on Arise Africa I spoke to them as part of my goal in life to develop and raise effective leaders in various fields of life without cost. Here are some of the excerpts

Why are we here today? It\’s all about People…. Leadership… Vision Management.
Quality people differentiate good companies from mediocre ones. Intellectual capital and emotional capital (the discretional effort of motivated staff) are now the key measures today.
Let me begin with some quotable quotes.
I am not a genius. I am only passionately curious” Albert Estienne
What are you curious about? What is that thing that gives you joy and satisfaction the most. Build your life around that. Your success lies in that. That is why you must enjoy your work and not endure your work.
“The illiterate of the future is not the person who cannot read but the person who does not want to learn”
It’s important we learn how to manage our visions in life. That is why Fresh Minds Academy was established some years back. We are here to learn on so as to take our chance when it comes.
According to one of the greatest American President Abraham Lincom, he said  “ I will study , learn and get ready perhaps my chance will come”
His chance came. Yes or no?

What is the Vision of your life? What is the vision of your business?
To understand the above, one need to understand what vision is.
The empires of the future are empires of the mind “ Winston Churchhil
Where there is no vision the people perish  Proverbs 29:18
What is vision?
DEFINITION OF VISION
  • The power of sensing with the eyes, sight
  • The act or power of anticipating that which will or mau come to be: Prophetic vision, the vision of entrepreneur.
  • An experience in which a personage, thing or event appears vividly or credibly to the mind, although not actually present, often under the influence of a devine or other agency.
  • A vivid imaginative conception or anticipation . visions of wealth and glory.
Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so shall you become. Your vision is the promise of what you shall one day be. Your ideal is their prophecy of what you shall at last unveil”
. James Allen
\”A leader has the vision and conviction that a dream can be achieved. He inspires the power and energy to get it done\”  Ralph Lauren
I will like to share with you the story about the man who started the Disney world. He had this wonderful vision of Disney world and described it vividly to the wife, all  he had in mind about the project. Unfortunately, he died before the commissioning of the biggest project of his life. A man on the occasion said how he wished that Disney has seen this wonderful work before he could go on, the wife intercepted. He saw it from the very beginning  before we all are gathered here today. my husband saw it
\”The vision that you glorify in your mind, the ideal that you enthrone in your heart, this you will build your life by and this you will become\”
There is a great relationship between vision and mission.
Vision differs from but complements Mission and philosophy.
Mission: States the basic purpose of the organization, defines it\’s relationships to other organizations and sets objectives
Vision : vision builds on mission statement to describe the future size, shape of the organization
Vision sets specific goals, drives and guide actions to achieve these goals
A person who has vision constantly has a picture of how things should be which ultimately leaves him with mental guidance /direction. On the other hand, a person who lacks vision dwells only on the immediate and often lacks the energy and courage to pursue the ideal” Prof BEB Nwoke
A visionless person lacks the drive and can not work towards a long term advancement or stability.
“The most pathetic person in the world is someone who has sight but has no vision” Helen Keller.
Vision And Perception :
if you want to be effective businessman you got to be a person with vision
Be an eagle!
Lesson from the Eagle According to Erudite Scholar Prof. BEB Nwoke
* The monarch of the sky
* The perfect flying machine
* In aerodynamics, wonder of the sky, king of the birds
*Eagle-eyed persons are capable of seeing to a great distance
*They are focused.
* Effective businessman are focused.
* Keep their mind on the task at hand and very good at the job.
*They are not distracted like the Eagle
* They are strategic in approach.
Check out how the Eagle soars – the highest height
Not like the vulture, the scavenger that does not distinguish between the good and the bad.
The company I manage has a vision
Our Vision: To be among the best Quick Service Restaurant in Nigeria and beyond
Our  Mission : To make our customers love Rennys through adherence to industry best practices anchored on the principle of quality products, Quality service by Quality people in a quality environment.
I am so glad to be a part of that vision. As an employee I understand that vision and it has become a passion for me.
I tell you the progress of the company and also that your business depends on the employee.
so you must make everyone who is part of your business to have a proper understanding of your vision, mission, values
A vision you don\’t understand, you can not actualize
Write it down. place it on strategic location of your business.
Show loyalty and devotion
Provide customers with the best product and services at all times
Taking you back a little…
We (Rennys) opened operations on October 2004
Between then and now. several fast foods that opened up in exactly same locations has closed up
The difference is one has a vision. The others don\’t
Benefits of vision management.
It helps you and your team to have a sense of ownership, sense of belonging or being a part of a great future.
Vision creates the big picture!
They will by the understanding of your vision, develop a high standard of productivity.
They will take personal care of all machinery, tools, material
They will provide the whole of their time, energy and ability to further the interest of your company
They will cooperate and work in harmony with other employees, management
They will be willing to give constructive suggestion for the improvement of process, efficiency and working conditions
In managing your business, it is quite important for you to ensure everyone keys in
It\’s either you shape in or you  shape out!
Instill discipline
Discipline :  Training of mind and character. A mode of life and character in accordance to rules and regulations
Disciplinary procedures should be put in place to ensure that discipline permeates the whole strata.
This is premised on the notion that if your staff are well disciplined by abiding to the stipulated company rules and regulations, the organization would achieve it\’s objectives and VISION
Another important aspect is performance management.
what do you understand by performance appraisal?
It\’s a very important aspect that you shouldn’t neglect
Reviewing performance requires one follows a process
1. Planning
* setting goals. Communicating these objectives
When you set goals, you commit to outcomes that you can accomplish personally or through your team
Goal setting creates a long term vision for your people and provides motivation to get you there.
Why do we set goals?
By setting goals and measuring their Achievements you can : a. focus on what is most important to accomplish on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis
b. Provide a unified direction for your team
c. Achieve more and devote less energy to non critical tasks
d. Motivate your team and boasts it\’s overall job satisfaction
Just imagine a football field without a goal post…
Your goals must meet the requirements of SMART
S = specific  M=measurable A=achievable R=realistic  T=Time bound
2. Follow up : monitoring performance against goals.  Providing support and encouraging improvement
The focus of the reviews should be on How to raise performance and improve effectiveness
it should involve : Reviewing,  Discussing,  Confirming the staff tasks, objectives & Standards
You can achieve the unimaginable in that your business if you set your mind to it.
\”I am only one. but still I a one. I can\’t do everything but still I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something I can do\”  Helen Keller

If Hellen Keller can achieve all she did above in her condition and at her age. Then you can even do better.
So go Ahead

12 Points For Wives To Note

12 Points For Wives To Note
======================
1. The wife that wins all arguments with her husband is not wise. The home is not a law court.
2. The wife that uses sex as a weapon in the home – placing embargo, going to bed in jeans shorts and trousers – lacks wisdom.
3. The wife that uses the modern trends and laws of \”women\’s rights\” to insult or ridicule her husband simply makes a fool of herself.
4. A woman that makes her home devoid of peace through bickering, nagging and quarrels needs help. A man should be eager to run away from office to be at home, for that should be the safest and coziest place on earth for him.

5. Modern-day equality in marriage does not mean competition. It simply means partnership. Taking advantage of such equality to turn around and become the de facto head of the home and oppress the man is tantamount to playing with fire. If you destroy your home, soon you will be the boss of an empty home.
6. A wise wife makes the man feel so good that he assumes that he is the head. Once he gets that feeling, the woman gently wields her power and the head actually turns to wherever the neck wants without a protest.
7. A wife that does not pull herself away from friends\’ influence and advice or even from the control of her mother and father will have herself to blame.
8. When a man is looking for a wife, he bypasses women of different shapes and sizes to choose a wife. But soon after childbirth, many women hide under the excuse of childbirth to let go of themselves.
Many stop bothering about their looks, shape, dressing, etc. Within 5 years of marriage, people start wondering if the wife is the man\’s aunt, even though she is 7 years younger.
Her defence is that if he truly loves her, he should love her the way she is.
But when looking for a wife, he saw people like the present YOU and ignored
them and settled for the former YOU. Today, you go to bed smelling of onions
and ogiri. You go to bed wearing grandmothers\’ clothes. Why are you playing
with your marriage? Love is not about looks – we know. But looks enhance
love and marriage. There is a difference between someone disfiguring herself
and the person being disfigured by an accident. Please don\’t be complacent.
As hard as it may be, work on looking like you were when he first saw you
and began the chase.
9. If every night you are tired, sleepy, sore, down with headache or fever, \”not in the mood,\” you are a joker, a serious comedian!
10. If your children suddenly become more important to you than your husband, you need prayers.
11. If you assume that as the woman, only you need to be pampered and
fussed over while the man is a stone that has no emotions, you need to be
pitied.
12. A woman that has the mind of a wife does not excite her husband. Wives are usually complacent and presumptuous. A wife must strive to have the mind of a girlfriend. A girlfriend is always nicer, sweeter, more loving and always thinking of ways to wow her sweetheart; a girlfriend does not try to win all arguments, does not call the man a \”useless man\”, is not careless about her looks or dressing, always smiles and laughs with the man, sends the man sweet messages and calls, etc.
Are you your husband\’s girlfriend in word and in deed?
Now That you have read this, please SHARE to educate others.
They need to read it too, don\’t be selfish.

Business Sense and Thinking Beyond You.

Business Sense and Thinking Beyond You.
It\’s ok to be seek for personal gains and fame of your firm but it\’s of utmost importance that every entrepreneur or would-be entrepreneur  should think about his chosen business or initiative more as a gift to the entire world which he or she has been made a custodian of rather than just an idea for personal aggrandizement.
This is a mindset of big-time business people and inventors.  It\’s far better to start in time to think of how the world can benefit from what you have to offer rather than centering your thoughts on what the world has to offer to benefit from what you have.
When your business sense primarily focuses on adding value before taking value from society,  then you will make decisions that will stand the test of time and test of greed.

Secondly you must have to think beyond your time.  What will become of the firm you are building in the next 20 year,  then the next 50 years,  then the next 100 years.
Is your business just to exist as long as you live or will it continue for generations to come?
Thinking in this perspective will enable you frame your firm around certain core values and objectives that will stand firm in winds and in storms.
For a business or brand to last for decades  or centuries after the founder is gone,  one major value it must be built on us integrity.
Integrity is forged in the fire of truthfulness and consistency.  Truth can be buried, attacked,  libelled, slandered against,  kicked and ridiculed but at the end of all these,  truth will still survive and will become stronger and shine brighter each time.
By consistency,  I don\’t mean remaining stagnant on outdated ways of doing things.  I mean,  if you are known for making the best bread is town,  don\’t ever make good bread.
Another major value a business that will thrive beyond you must have is Satisfaction of all clients (as much as possible).  One fully satisfied client is better than 10 unsatisfied clients… In the long run.
This is very important to take note of especially for young entrepreneurs who might be lucky to get overwhelmed by rush of clients at the beginning of their business.
They might rush the job or deliver goods that are not satisfactorily done all in the bid to attend to all the customers in a short time and seemingly prove your speed.
In as much as speed of completion is complimented,  it is better you take your time to deliver a satisfactory or even excellent service or good than to rush and deliver something the client will frown at.
Recap:
Make sure your business is built to serve the masses first before serving your bank account.  But remember your bank account also.
Map out value system that can ensure your business will last beyond you.  That\’s if you deem it necessary.  You can start with building the business around integrity.

AN X-RAY OF OUR LOCAL GOVERNMENT ……..A citadel of failed expectations

AN X-RAY OF OUR LOCAL GOVERNMENT
……..A citadel of failed expectations

The root in the Local Government has necessitated and legitimized any genuine effort by any state government to redress the shame in the existence of the councils in the states.
These local government councils have constantly failed to live up to the expectation of their mandate in making sure that people at the grassroots feel the impact of the government in measurable terms.

Local governments have been hijacked by so called powerful individuals who claim to be leaders and spokesmen who have invariably become De facto owners to whom these local governments have been ceded. They are known to be doubtful philanthropist who claims to have the masses at their beck and call. This is their greatest trump card for deceit.
Governments without the right discernment have trusted the chameleonic utterances of such leaders  by allowing them  manipulate the party machinery in such a way that Local government chairmen and councilors must be produced through their endorsement if they are to win section election called elections where the electoral process denies the electorate their legitimate mandate.
The so called TC chairmen are therefore reduced to mere robots and stooges  that must take instruction from such leaders.
These leaders have place the Local government under siege, the traditional rulers who are supposed to fight and ensure the wellbeing of their subject once they collect their allowances, they retire to their urban and rural places unaware of the insecurity, tax evasion and mismanagement in their local governments areas because they are cajoled into believing that they will live forever.
In situations where their utterances and resolutions can bring about positive changes, their votes are eclipsed in a conspiracy of silence typical of no mans land.
Party leaders of all descriptions and stake holders in a desperate swinish scramble to reap where they did not sow: gather in the councils at the arrival of local government federal allocations to have their chare of the national cake.  Council officials are not left out f the game as they are known to award contracts to themselves and sublet same to close friends whose sharp practices lead to abandonment of contracts, revalidation and profit sharing to that at the end of the day, huge funds have been salted away without any tangible evidence of work one after making council workers millionaires. No wonder why council workers resist deployment under the guise of autonomy of the establishment. This is the local government for you across the country.
It is unfortunate that the masses have continued in vain to hope against hope as promises by local government bosses, whether elected or appointed have become the Sunday – Sunday medicine” In episodic, repetitive and puerile tough pronouncements ranging from carrying everybody along; warning against gossip; absenteeism; open administration; teamwork and payment of outstanding allowances; to dealing firmly with nonconformists.
This has been the order of the day at the inception of any administration while the workers applaud as the “soldier comes and goes”
Professional praise singers will then take over and consummate the orgy of unrealizable manifesto and verbal dividends of democracy.
Invariably there is a rapid return to status quo to organize useless seminars  and workshops on nothing to give the despondent apathetic workforce a sense of belonging. How can the masses anticipate any good from their local governments where chairmen share the allocations from their hotel rooms after which they disappear and make occasional pilgrimages to their council offices only to explain their absence with doubtful meeting at the government house.
Some dry season, strategic roads are graded to rake up dust to justify sacrilegious expenditure instead of making them motor able.
Cottage industries to create employment are often promised to the rural dwellers but these are not in the agenda of local government councils as funds have been spent upfront on frivolities.
Any community that wants portable drinking ware will buy or sink her own boreholes. Mediocre supervisory councilors clad in administrative ineptitude end up serving visitors all in the offices instead of initiating positive proposals to generate revenuer to make the councils visible.
Take a trip to any local government headquarters and weep over grave yard silence, dilapidated infrastructures, unkempt weedy environment that reminds you of war torn establishments. The publicity hungry honorable chairman mortgagees the meager remnants of council funds to the electronic and print media to enhance his noisy vulgarity. Inundate him with chieftaincy titles and see how vain he is.
Go to the local government council to pay any fee and discover that government receipts are not available. Revenue generation is utterly neglected unless it is geared towards enriching the collector.
The concept of local governed have become a misnomer, phantons and painted sepulchers where state legislators are known to collect their own share of the funds from the Local Government they represent in addition to their entitlements. Local government  councils have symbolized a catena of failed expectations as ghost civil servants in some local government from where they collect monthly allowances. Every incoming administration makes frantic efforts to engage revolving ghost workers to give sense of belonging to relations irrespective of establishment procedures not adhered to. This shame goes on ad-infinitum.
Environmental sanitation and disposal of refuse have defied solution and beyond the competence of chairman in urban areas because the fat allocations have made them so intellectually morbid that they chose to hide under the cover of state governments.
People’s money are store away by political office holders for more political exploit in futures. The local government are nor left out in such guests instead of serving the masses. There is therefore need for a new paradym shift. Mature and seasoned individuals with clean public service records should serve as chairmen and councilors of local government to render selfless service to the people, instead of traders and baby aspirants fresh from school.
These should not be imposed on the people under any guise as they easily fail prey to praise singers, deceptive bill boards and assaults. We need chairmen and councilors who know their bearing and commitment t to the people not protégés of God fathers and glorified chief clerks put up for window dressing as executive chairmen. The sole administrator or whatever name they may be called as occasion and circumstance demand should settle down to work according to the dictates of law. They should not be cajoled into feeling that they are better as round pegs in round holes or more qualified than those not appointment. They should realize that their appointment is an opportunity to render selfless service, to the people instead of those responsible for their appointment under the guise of Nigerian factor.
On a more serious note, the Community Development Initiative should be seen as s revolutionary departure from the statuesque. It is aimed correcting the debilitating endemic wrongs of the past, provided the operators will not betray the trust like lions in sheep clothing. It should be endorsed and supported by all for introducing grassroot participatory democracy in practical terms. If the local government system is to serve its purpose in this country instead of being waste pipes

In Portland, Pro-Hillary supporters chanted \”No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA\” While Protesters in D.C., who headed to the Trump International Hotel, shouted \”No Trump, no KKK\’\’
While Latinos marched in their thousands to the Los Angeles City Hall Wednesday night and chanted
\”I will not live in fear,\” \”Fight back, stand up\” and \”¡Si se puede!\” (Spanish for \”It can be done\”). People are furious not just at the results of the election, but the rhetoric of Donald Trump,\” Ahmed Kanna, an organizer for Social Alternative Berkeley, told CNN\’s Don Lemon.
Some people even gathered at the White house to mourn the election loss of Hillary Clinton as any feared their friends and loved ones could be deported once Trump becomes president.

IK Anyanwu urges South East youths to become agents of Change as Arise Afrika is Unveiled.

IK Anyanwu urges South East youths to become agents of Change. Publisher of Arise Afrika has urged the youths to embrace change.
The leadership blogger, event / media Consultant  and Human Resources Specialist  who made the call during Imo @ 40 commemorative Lecture held at Concorde Hotel has urged the youths that instead of looking for white collar jobs to become self reliant.
“I believe in the youths, that we can help bring the desired change we are all seeking for in the country.”

Earlier the group has intimidated us of their intentions to raise the beautiful continent of Afrika one information at a time. He revealed that their would be unveiling of Arise Afrika Magazine on the 26thNovember at Rock View Hotel of which  several youths has lend their support towards the success of the event which is attracting participation of high profile guests.
He called on involvement of youths and not to feel alienated by severe economic conditions. There
would also be a brain storming session at the event, along side cultural exhibitions, African Fashion show, Comedy, Talk show,
Apart from the young people looking forward to this event, a foremost successfully  business woman and investor –  Ugoeze Ngozi Okwudinma has strongly voiced out her support to the youths. She advocated youths making use of their MIND POWER FOR RELEVANCE . According to her;

\”Train and empower your mind right. See yourself as the only architect of your dream after God. Be law abiding. Improve yourself academically and aspire to achieve great things. Work hard. Acquire practical skills that would help you in life. It would also help to prepare and package you as a potential leader for the nation.
To the older generation I say, see yourself as a catalyst positioned by posterity to help people achieve their dreams. Assist the youths to achieve success. We should all see ourselves as one part of the whole universe. Everything we do, say or has done has effect on the whole universe. when this becomes our mindset, we will find out that It is easier to help change the world and also convince others to do the same.
In conclusion, no matter how well meaning the society or Government policies are, you can not achieve much for yourself unless your mind stays sound and focused. you must be objective, constructive, faithful, diligent, loyal, honest and have confidence in yourself.
You must be willing to sacrifice a little bit to reap bountiful thereafter. That is the secret. it worked for me and it can work for you. You must understand that there is no other smoother way for you to reach the top and achieve success in life than the above.
I believe in the youths. I believe in myself that is why I am here today\” –     Ugoeze Shirley Ngozi OKWUDIMMA
The above statements were made by her at  Imo community development project capped\” Imo Students Leadership Summit 2016 \” organized by Arise Afrika in partnership with Bureau of Students Affairs Imo State Govt House & Zanders Fm.

The pivotal South Eastern States of Imo and Anambra turned 40  in February  this year and thus presented an ample opportunity for Imo @ 40 commemorative lecture in Imo which reflected on what the future holds for Nigeria as a united nation regardless of its  regional tensions, like Boko Haram in the Northeast, Niger -delta militancy in the south-south and Biafra agitations in the south east.
Details of the lecture on the theme: Analysing the future of south east socio-political persuasion in todays Nigeria; the way forward will be on Arise Afrika Magazine amongst other thrilling lectures, Photo news of events across the nations.
The 2015 elections that brought a change in government, increased the positive surge in political consciousness of usually non-partisan youths and adult and must be effectively taken advantage of in propagating civic education in the populace and all the lectures presented an ample opportunity for soul search and reflections on the issues limiting the south east socio-political development and stratagems to conquer salutation of mediocrity in the zone.
The south east was chosen for discussion because of the occasional volatile demonstration and agitation for a sovereign state that has led to the loss of precious lives and huge economic losses and the organisers  in living to their promise to the people are using the  outcome of the lectures and discussion to analyze the situation, educate and inform its people especially the youth on the right direction to take as more demonstrations are expected in the near future.
youths selected from  tertiary institutions in the  five south eastern states will be present at the Unveiling ceremony  to state their various positions on the present situation and sentiments that shape their views for or against it as our discussants will brainstorm and offer guidelines on how to surmount challenges that arises from such situations
The team of organizers putting the event together is counting on participation of their chosen professionals with indelible records, who are also recognized voices with  deep  intellectual capacity and record that commands  inter- tribal followership of Nigerians as a pedestal to help drive the point home.

GOVERNOR OKOROCHA FULFILS PROMISES: BUILDS ULTRA-MODERN RELIEF MARKET IN OWERRI.

GOVERNOR OKOROCHA FULFILS PROMISES: BUILDS ULTRA-MODERN RELIEF MARKET IN OWERRI.

Determined to creating a conducive market environment and discourage street trading the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Owelle (Dr.) Rochas Anayo Ethelbert Okorocha (HERO) has made good of his promises as he builds the ultra-Modern Relief Market in Owerri.

Recall that in one of his unscheduled visit to traders in Ekeukwu market, Gov. Okorocha announced that his administration would build a relief market in the state to accommodate more traders and provide opportunity for street traders to own shops.

The governor said that with the construction of the relief market, street trading would be abolished in Owerri since traders from other markets who do not have shops would be accommodated.

It is heart warming today to see that the market has been fully constructed and allocated.

A visit to the market would leave no one in doubt of governor Okorocha\’s genuine love and passion for the people of the state.

Speaking to our correspondent, the visibly elated chairman of the Relief Market Association Mr. Hyacinth Ejiogu who was full of praises for the Rescue Mission thanked Gov. Okorocha for living up to his promises. He called on his colleagues who are yet to have a shop in the market to hurry as there still exist some vacant shops waiting to be occupied.
