The Morning Sunset: The Untold Story Of How Travelling To A New World Is Not Always Greener

The Morning Sunset: The Untold Story Of How Travelling To A New World Is Not Always Greener
Majority of people in developing countries especially the youth dream of leaving their
home countries for a greener pasture in the Western world. While staying in the urban or
suburban in the same countries offer prospects, most dreams are to make it to Europe. This
is because of the opinion that Europe/America (abroad as is popularly known) is a land
flowing with milk and honey. Of course, there are a lot more opportunities in abroad including
better life, good health infrastructure, good roads, constant electricity, employment, sound
education.
However, nowadays, many people negate the legal means and engage their journey to Europe
through dangerous means including via desert and the sea. They fall prey of swindlers who
rob them huge amount of money. These innocent people fall victims because the information
they perceive are false. They are not aware of the truth behind the journey. They become
vulnerable and exposed to humiliation, rape, exploitation, abuse and trafficking. In addition,
thousands of them loose their lives while engaging in this perilous journey. The relatives
patiently wait that one day they will call home or even return home for a perfect and joyful
reunion, not knowing that they have long been dead; that they never received proper burial
rights because their bodies have been covered by dessert sand; eaten by fishes in the ocean
and or wild animals. That these loved ones will never return home, not now and not in the
future. It is in fact highly pathetic and terrible hearing, reading and watching this same story
every year.
With a heartfelt thought for the family of those who lose their lives in the desert and ocean;
and a voice pleading to those who are nursing the idea to make that dangerous journey, Joy
brings this awareness of the unnecessary loss of young and promising lives in the name of
search for greener pastures in Europe., Hence the story of her book “The Morning Sunset”.

This story emanated from her desire to demonstrate what she had observed over the years
she lived in Europe over unnecessary immigration of Africans into Europe, coupled with the
level of humiliation Africans are subjected to in foreign land; with a trained engineer plucking

tomatoes and a medical doctor babysitting to earn a living.
Her story is to create awareness and sensitize Africans on the danger behind travelling abroad
through the desert and the sea. In as much as travelling to abroad is good, with savoury
opportunities, engaging in a perilous journey via desert and sea does not worth it.
Her story will not only educate people on the dangers of illegal journeys through the desert
and the sea which; include loss of money and lives of our youngsters but will encourage people
to take the legal route to make that burning dream of their hearts to come true; just as

Professor Oluyinka Olutoye, Dr. Philip Emegwali and the host other celebrated Africans here
did.

Rethinking Learning in Africa: Taking Education Beyond the Classroom and Into Every Young Person’s Hands By Osita Oparaugo

0

My team and I taught Nigerian youths cinematography and video editing using nothing more than their mobile phones and their indigenous languages. And what we witnessed was remarkable: when learning becomes accessible, relatable, and culturally rooted, young people engage as creators, not merely consumers of knowledge.

This is the future of education.
Not confined to a classroom, but active in communities.
Not driven by fear of failure, but by curiosity and imagination.
Not restricted by language but expanded through it.

Africa is the fastest-growing mobile phone market in the world. Even in rural and low-income communities, mobile penetration is high. Young people are far more likely to own a mobile phone than to have access to a computer, a library, or a stable school system.

This reality presents an enormous, often overlooked opportunity.

If the mobile phone is the most available device, why isn’t it the most utilized tool for learning?
If young people are already creating content, connecting socially, and exploring ideas on their phones, why aren’t we delivering structured, empowering education to the same device?

To unlock Africa’s next generation of creators, entrepreneurs, and innovators, we must take education to where they already are in their hands, not just in school buildings.

One of the biggest barriers to effective learning across Africa is language. Too many young people are taught subjects in English, French, or Portuguese—languages they speak only partially, if at all. This creates a system where students memorize to pass exams but rarely internalize knowledge deeply.

When we teach digital skills in indigenous languages:

Comprehension improves
Confidence grows
Creativity explodes
Young people see themselves reflected in what they learn

A learner who understands fully is a learner who can create boldly.

At GetBundi, we are pioneering that localizing digital education is not a cultural luxury. It is a necessity for equity, inclusiveness, and long-term development.

If we want to close the gap for out-of-school youths…
If we want to empower low-income and rural communities…
If we want a continent driven by innovation rather than dependency…

…then we must redesign education from the ground up.

This means:
Delivering digital skills through mobile phones
Teaching in indigenous languages
Making learning culturally relevant
Creating pathways that connect knowledge to real economic opportunity
Viewing youth not as passive recipients, but as active creators of solutions

The next great filmmaker, app developer, digital marketer, or community storyteller may not be sitting in a classroom today. But they may be holding a phone in their hand, waiting for a chance to learn in a language and format that speaks to them.

Africa’s future will not be shaped by infrastructure alone, but by imagination.
Not only by technology, but by access.
Not only by education, but by rethinking what education truly means.

Let us build a continent where every young person, no matter where they are born, has the tools, the language, and the confidence to thrive in a digital world.

Let us meet learners where they are.
Let us teach in the languages they understand.
And above all, let us unlock the brilliance that already exists in every African community.

The future of Africa is in the hands of its youth.
Our responsibility is to make sure those hands hold not just mobile phones but opportunities.

Re-imagining Learning in the Digital Age: The African Opportunity

Re-imagining Learning in the Digital Age: The African Opportunity

By Osita Oparaugo

“If we dare to reimagine how Africa learns, we can rewrite how Africa lives, works, and leads tomorrow.”

Africa at the Crossroads

Africa stands at a pivotal moment. The continent’s classrooms, both physical and digital, are being reshaped by technology. The digital revolution is redefining what it means to learn, teach, and create knowledge.

And nowhere in the world is this change more urgent, or fuller of promise, than in Africa.

A Young Continent, a Global Future

Africa is home to the youngest population on Earth. By 2050, one out of every three young people will be African. That means the world’s future innovators, thinkers, and leaders are sitting in African classrooms today.

For years, limited infrastructure, overcrowded schools, and outdated curricula have held back progress. But digital technology offers a chance to leap forward, to build new systems of learning that are open, inclusive, and relevant to the realities of African life.

The Challenges — and the Opportunity

Millions of African children still lack reliable access to the internet and electricity. Teachers often have little or no training with digital tools. Yet Africa has shown time and again that innovation grows from adversity.

From rural solar-powered classrooms to mobile learning platforms, African educators are creating solutions that meet learners where they are and, in the languages they understand best.

Learning in Our Own Voice

Reimagining learning in Africa means grounding education in local culture, language, and experience. When students learn through stories that reflect their lives, they connect deeply with knowledge, and confidence grows.

At GetBundi, digital learning is reaching millions of young Africans through mobile phones in their own languages. It’s a simple but powerful shift: turning the continent’s most common tool into its most important classroom.

A New Kind of Learning Experience

Walls no longer bind the classroom. With digital tools and AI, learning can happen anywhere, on buses, in city centres, and in remote villages. Artificial intelligence now helps personalize learning for each student, while open educational resources make world-class content freely available.

Most importantly, education in the digital age is becoming a lifelong journey. The most valuable learners are not those who memorize facts but those who never stop asking questions.

What Must Change

To truly transform education, Africa must act boldly and collectively.

Governments should prioritize investment in digital infrastructure, electricity, and access to devices.

Teachers must be trained to lead with technology, not just adapt to it.

Curricula must shift from rote memorization to creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving.

Private sector partnerships should drive sustainable innovation at scale.

This is not just about learning; it’s about the economy. The jobs of tomorrow demand digital, entrepreneurial, and global skills.

A Vision of an Empowered Africa

Imagine a young girl in a rural village accessing the same quality of education as a student in a city because learning lives on her phone, in her language, and in her world.

Imagine millions of young Africans building the apps, businesses, and solutions of the future.

That is the Africa we can create, not by borrowing ideas, but by building our own.

A Call to Believe

This is Africa’s moment. The question is not whether the continent is ready for the digital age but whether we believe in our power to shape it.

Let’s invest not only in technology but in imagination. Not only in devices, but in dreams. Because what will truly transform Africa is not the tools in our hands, but the vision in our hearts.

If we reimagine how Africa learns, we will reimagine how Africa leads.

“The next great innovators, teachers, and problem-solvers are already here, in our classrooms, our homes, our communities. They are waiting for us to believe in them.”

Dangote Didn’t Just Build A Refinery By Osita Oparaugo

0

To those who think Aliko Dangote built a refinery, I beg you to think again.

Dangote isn’t just refining oil, he’s refining perspective.

He didn’t build a refinery; he built a mirror, showing African leaders and entrepreneurs what Africa could achieve if we stopped exporting raw materials and outsourcing our future.

In 2015, I wrote a piece that ruffled a few diplomatic feathers, especially among my European friends. I asked:

How does Belgium, without a single cocoa farm, make more money from chocolate than Côte d’Ivoire, the world’s largest cocoa producer?

That question still matters. Africa must stop exporting raw materials and start exporting value. Because the real wealth isn’t in the resource, it’s in the refinement.

Look at China. Their strength doesn’t come from natural resources, but from a skill-based education system that empowers citizens to manufacture, innovate, and compete globally.

By 2030, Africa will have over 1 billion people under 35.

That’s not just a statistic, it’s a once-in-a-century opportunity. With the right skills, mindset, and infrastructure, we can turn Africa’s challenges into the world’s next wave of opportunity.

Dangote didn’t just build a refinery.

He built a challenge for all of us.

PAYS SCHOOL FEES OF STUDENTS FROM VERY POOR HOMES

DEDICATES ACTION TO LATE MAZI CLEMENT OWUNNA MFR (NNAZIRIUZO)

A non-governmental Organisation Nke Nke Enyi Izuogu foundation for the needy and the Aged powered by Super High Chief Dr Ikenna Chiedozie Aniche popularly called and known by his prestigious traditional title as Nke Nke Enyi Izuogu na Iheme Gburu Gburu 1-12 this morning Wednesday 17th of September 2025 released and shared the sum of N5,000,000 cash – Five million naira for 100 families in his hometown Ndiekwuru Imenze Arondizuogu Amuro Okigwe LGA of Imo State.

Nke Nke Enyi Izuogu na Iheme Gburu Gburu 1-12 in his remarks strongly stressed that his foundation is very uncomfortable with the practice of not allowing children go to school and that it is out of place to deny the children their right to education all in the name of making more money.
