… highlights his giant strides in entrepreneurship development and skill acquisition

As the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma marks his One Year in Office today, January 15th, 2021, in the governance of Imo State, some of his giant strides in entrepreneurship development, empowerment and skill acquisition programmes carried-out through the new Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Skill Acquisition have been highlighted and applauded by Hon. Sir Noble A. Atulegwu, the Imo State Commissioner for Entrepreneurship and Skill Acquisition.
The Honourable Commissioner stated that the One Year of Gov. Hope Uzodimma after recovering his mandate at the Supreme Court of Nigeria on January 14th, 2020, has been a peaceful, prosperous and vision-oriented one. He said Imolites have reasons to thank almighty God.
He started with; “The new Ministry, as the name implies is vested with the responsibility of improving the standard of living of the citizenry, training and empowerment of the masses by creating ways of impacting knowledge that lead to success, encouraging the jobless, the poor and those to be empowered through skill acquisition, monetary empowerment thereby reducing the unemployment rates.”
According to Hon. Atulegwu, the new Ministry since its inception has recorded tremendous achievement as follows:
The new Ministry made a proposal for the collation of data of unemployed graduate youths in the 27 LGAs of Imo State for training and empowerment, to the Governor, which he graciously approved.
When Governor Hope Uzodimma marked his 100 days in Office, this data collection was captured in his maiden broadcast, where 5,000 persons will be trained and empowered.
In the first phase of Imo Youths Empowerment Workshop, Governor Hope Uzodimma trained 1,610 unemployed graduate youths/special citizens of Imo State through a recognized Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) for the assessment of N1 Million – N10 Million Loan of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) through the Nirsal MicroFinance Bank.
Through the new Ministry, Governor Hope Uzodimma has been able to visit and inspect the Association of Artisans Development, (ASAD) Imo State, Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association ( NATA), Avu Mechanic Village and National Incubation Centre at Naza Cluster Area.
Through the visits of the above mentioned Associations by the new Ministry, Governor Hope Uzodimma has successfully gathered all the artisans in Imo State for the first time after 21 years under one Umbrella, whereby an election was conducted in the office of the Hon. Commissioner and an office was allocated to them in the Ministry where they hold their meetings at intervals, so as to contribute their own quota for an increased Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) Base for upliftment of our dear State.
The new Ministry has already proposed for another training and empowerment of 10,000 unemployed graduate youths of Imo State which was captured in the budget, waiting for His Excellency’s approval and kick-starting.
Through the new Ministry, Governor Hope Uzodimma has made an inspection to the Mkporo-Amazon Film Village in Ihiagwa, Owerri West LGA and promised that the State Government is ready to partner with them whenever the needs arise as the name implies.
On Internally Displaced Persons (IDPS), through the new Ministry, Governor Hope Uzodimma has successfully collected and compiled the data of all Internally Displaced Persons in Imo State and forwarded the data to Abuja for further necessary actions.
Industrial Training Fund (ITF) by the Federal Government, through the new Ministry, Governor Hope Uzodimma has successfully collected and compiled 150 names of unemployed youths from the 27 Local Government Areas of Imo State for training and empowerment and also, forwarded same, after which they would be empowered.
Through the new Ministry, Governor Hope Uzodimma is carrying out the collation and compilation of data of all artisans in Imo State for effective and efficient extension of State Government aids to them.
Through the new Ministry, Governor Hope Uzodimma has successfully completed the training of 305 Women from the 305 Wards we have accros the 27 Local Government Areas in Imo State on Spice Production and they were empowered financially at the end of their 3 days training.
Through the new Ministry, Governor Hope Uzodimma has recently trained the second (2nd) phase/ batch of 2200 unemployed Imo Youths through a recognized Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) for the assessment of N1 Million – N10 Million Naira Loan of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) through the Nirsal MicroFinance Bank.
Through the new Ministry, Governor Hope Uzodimma has successfully collected the data of unemployed youths of Imo State and same were trained and empowered in “Rabbit Farming” by the Nigeria Agricultural and Lands Development Agency (NALDA).
Through the new Ministry, Governor Hope Uzodimma is currently carrying out the collation, compilation and filling of forms of 2,800 unemployed Imo youths for financial empowerment by the State Government.

The Empowerment Commissioner applauded Gov. Hope Uzodimma for his efforts in creating a peaceful and prosperous Imo State within One Year as Governor and said such efforts have yielded good fruits that will leave positive indelible mark in the growth and development of Imo State.
He prayed almighty God to strengthen and grant Gov. Hope Uzodimma more knowledge, wisdom and understanding to continue the good work for the betterment of our State.
