Moved to alleviate the suffering of indigenes of Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo state associated with public transport,a Philanthropist in the LGA, and Aspirant for the Seat of Mbaitoli State-constituency in the awaited 2023 Imo State House of Assembly Election,Engr.Chimaraoke Oparaugo,on Saturday, April, 9,2022,unveiled his plans towards the easing public transport challenges among the people by donating commuter-buses to be conveying indegenes of the area through and from Mbaitoli LGA to Owerri, capital city of Imo state.
Addressing leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress, APC in the LGA at Chief Marcelinus Nlemigbo’s(Marcon) compound, Umudagu-Mbieri community, Oparaugo, informed that the free Mass Transit Programme for Mbaitoli Indigenes was set in motion to ease the transportation hardship of the people of Mbaitoli-South (Ogbaku, Ifakala, Umunoha,and Ubomiri), Mbaitoli-East (Mbieri nation),and Mbaitoli-North (Ogwa, Orodo,Afara,and Eziama-Obiato communities), with designate terminals and loading bays of the freely donated buses in Mbaitoli LGA, which he said, shall be conveying the people to Ama-JK-Douglas Road, Owerri as final destination.
He however pointed out that, the essence is to reduce the road-transport hardships confronting Mbaitoli Indegenes, considering the numerical strength and size of the LGA reputed as ‘most-populous’ in Imo state’s democracy, and,in furtherance of his humanitarian deeds to the people using the’ Obinwanne Mbaitoli Foundation’.
In the same vein, Oparaugo,also the Proprietor of Royal Billion Apartment Orji-Owerri,and Co-ordinator of the Imo Golf and Amusement parks, announced that,as part of his goodwill to the people of Mbaitoli LGA, his Humanitarian Organization has made available stickers and tallies to enable Mbaitoli Indigenes get petroleum-fuel for their vehicles, motorcycles and tricycles,and for other domestic uses free of charge.
Other projects for the betterment of Mbaitoli people undertaken by the APC aspirant for Mbaitoli State-constituency include; the ‘Operation Feed Mbaitoli Programme’ aimed at providing food for Mbaitoli-born school children free of charge, altogether with job -creation for the Youths (skilled and unskilled labour), aimed at achieving his rural urbanization scheme.
In their responses on behalf of the Mbaitoli leaders and stakeholders,Gen.Sunday Chikwe (Rtd),Hon.Ifeanyi Nnataraony (Olugbu), the immediate-past IMHA member for Mbaitoli State-constituency,Barr.Kingsley Ononuju (former commissioner in Imo State),Chief Samuelson Emeheibe,Mrs.Ngozi Ukegbu (Odiuko),Sir Rufus Osueke, among others, commended the APC aspirant for the kind gestures, and urged him not to relent.
Highlight of the occasion was the concerted prayers by the leaders for a successful takeoff of the transport scheme,and formal commissioning.
