The Billionaire Real estate and hospitality businessman, High Chief Micheal Duru Ejiogu was born in Isiala Mbano, Imo State, on the 24th of February 1974 in the Ejiogu dynasty. He is the Chairman/GMD of Citygate Group, a multi-billion Naira Real estate and hospitality conglomerate. Micheal Duru Ejiogu is an experienced and high-performance driven businessman, an outstanding man of high pedigree and noble achievements with over 25 years of corporate experience.
Chief Duru Ejiogu had his elementary education at Holy Ghost Primary School, Makurdi in Benue State where he was enrolled in 1981. In 1987, he was awarded his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC). In 1988, he proceeded to the renowned Government College, Makurdi and completed his junior secondary school in 1990. It should not go unnoticed that the tenaciously focused Chief Duru temporarily halt the pursuit of Western education after the completion of his junior secondary. This was a properly orchestrated plan to establish a business that could train him in school, employ many young Nigerians and contribute to the socio-economic development of Nigeria.
Therefore, after a period of nine (9) years, having firmly established his business empire, Chief Ejiogu dusted his books, picked up his pen and was back to the classroom – this time at Amuwo Odofin Boys Secondary School where he began and completed his Senior Secondary School Education from 1999 to 2001.
In 2010, the distinguished entrepreneur was admitted into the prestigious University of Abuja for a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Public Administration and graduated with a very sound degree in 2016. At the time of graduation, Chief Ejiogu was above 30 years and consequently, he was not mobilized for the National Youth Service Scheme and was issued a certificate of exemption.
In the corporate world, Chief Ejiogu has demonstrated strong business acumen, astuteness and sagacity and combined with his illustrious education as a public administrator, he has been efficiently and diligently managing his business conglomerates which include Western Travels & Tours Ltd, Lagos, where he was the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer from 1999 to 2008. In 2002, he also established the Snow Water Production Ltd, Surelere, Lagos and was the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer until 2008.
In 2014, the astute entrepreneur fully diversified into the Real estate and hospitality business with the establishment of the Mbano Royal Suites, Imo, Abuja Royal Suites, Wuse 2 among other signature hospitality brands in Lagos which gave birth to Citygate Group. Chief Duru as of today has employed hundreds of youths in his business empire, contributing his quota to the socio-economic development of Nigeria.
High Chief Michael Ejiogu is a member of many professional bodies and also a recipient of many awards. His modest contributions to society were recognized and honoured by many top organizations. Chief Michael Ejiogu, is a Fellow Institute of Advanced Entrepreneurship and Research Development ( IAERAD), Fellow, Chartered Institute of Commerce Nigeria, Patron Young Entrepreneurs of Nigeria (YEN) Ambassador for Peace…. Universal Peace Federation. He is also Ambassador of Christ of St. John City Parish, Patron of Okigwe Students Association of Imo State and Onurube Social Club of Isiala Mbano. Chief is the President, Catholic Men Organization FCT, the chairman emeritus of Anara Town Union, ATU, Lagos. His political involvement and participation in Nigerian politics is of high significance.
Billionaire Chief Micheal Duru holds the title of Eru Amara of Ozoro Kingdom in Delta State and currently the Onowu (Traditional Prime Minister) of Anara Ancient Kingdom in Anara Isiala Mbano, Imo State. He is happily married blessed with six (6) children and his hobbies include reading, watching movies and football.
