EFCC intercepts N49m at Kaduna Airport
Exactly a week after it started operations as a replacement airport for the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the Kaduna International Airport has come into the news for a strange reason. The sum of N 49 million was intercepted by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission as the huge was being ferried out through the airport.
According to a statement released by the Spokesman for the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, the cash was found during a routine baggage screening.

According to the information, the money was contained in five unmarked and unaccompanied large black coloured Buhu sags. “Upon examination, the bags were found to contain fresh crispy Naira notes of N200 denomination in 20 bundles totaling N40 million and N50 denomination in 180 bundles totaling N9 million with seal purportedly emanating from the Nigeria Security and Minting Plc (NSPM) as seen in the labeled sealed packs. The EFCC spokesman said investigation into the case was in top gear to unravel the culprits behind the attempted illegal movement of the cash.

INTERVIEW TIPS BY IKECHUKWU ANYANWU

INTERVIEW TIPS

l-R Justin, Ik Anyanwu Ceo GCFN Consult/Arise Afrika Publisher , Dr Chidi
Today I will like to share with you some basic tips that would help you scale through your interview, questions such as;
Why should I employ you?
This is the most important question of your interview because he must answer this question favorably in his own mind before you can be employed by him.
Apply the strategy of uncovering the employer’s needs before you answer the question. If you know the employer’s greatest needs and desires, this question will give you a big leg up over other candidates because you will give him better reasons for hiring you than anyone else is likely to.
e.g  “ I understand  your needs. You are looking for someone who can manage the sales of your fast food company. As you have said you need someone with a strong background. I have had 13 years experience in this area. I know the right contacts, methods, principles and successful management techniques as well as any person can in our industry. My innovative promotional ideas attracted various awards and special recognition, my sales figures doubles, then tripled during my last place of work. I’m confident that I can do the same for you.”

It is important your achievement is well committed to memory that you can recite them cold after being woken up from sleep.
Then once you uncover your interviewers greatest wants and needs, you choose those achievements from your list that best match up.
As a general guideline, the 10 most desirable traits what all employers love to see in their employees are:
A proven track record as an achiever.. especially if your achievements match up with the employer’s greatest wants and needs.
Intelligence…management “savvy”
Honesty…. Integrity….A decent human being
Good fir with corporate culture. Someone to feel comfortable with..a team player who meshes well with interviewer’s team
Likeability… positive attitude…sense of humour
Good Communication skills
Dedication… willingness to walk the extra mile to achieve excellence
Definiteness of purpose .. Clear goals
Enthusiasm.. High level of motivation
Confident.. Healthy… A leader
On Confidential matters of your previous employers
First, a company may be testing your integrity to see if you can be cajoled into revealing confidential data.
What do you do? The answer here is very easy. Never reveal anything truly confidential about a present or former employer. By all means, explain yourself. For example. “I certainly want to be as open as I can be about that. But I wish to respect the rights of those who have trusted me with their most sensitive information. Just as you would hope to be able to trust any of your key people when talking with a competitiot.”
You have to be guided by the golden rule. Do to others as you would have them do to you. This question pits your desire to be cooperative against your integrity. Faced with any such choice, always choose integrity. Once you divulge any of your previous or present employers confidential maters, your stock goes down. They will surely loose respect for you. Only those who hold fast are hired at the end.
How do you feel reporting to a younger person?
Make sure you state that the age of the person you report to would certainly make no difference to you.
You greatly admire a company that hires and promotes on merit alone. Whoever that has that position has obviously earned it and knows their job well. The person and the position are fully deserving of respect.
You have been with your firm a long time. Won’t it be hard switching to a new company?
Describe the similarities between the new position and your prior one. Explain that you should be comfortable working there, since their needs and your skills make a perfect match.
Also point to many ways you have grown and adapted to changing conditions at your present fir,  as a result you have learned to adapt quickly to whatever is thrown at you and you thrive on the stimulation of new challenges.
May I contact your present employer for a reference?
There is nothing wrong in letting them know in due time but you’d like to keep your job search private,
“My present employer is not aware of my job search and for obvious reasons, I’d prefer to keep it that way. I’d most appreciate if we keep our discussion confidential right now. Of course when we both agree the time is right, then by all means you should contact them. I am very proud of my record there.
Give me an example of your creativity(analytical skill… managing ability etc)
Remember you should commit to memory a list of your greatest and most recent achievement every ready on the tip of your tongue.
For example, the smashing success you orchestrated at last year’s trade show could be used as an example of creativity.. or “ I was able to sight a fast food in a completely 3 different locations and introduced products and services that was not being offered in those neighborhood at that time. I have an Express Meal Delivery package, Coorperate Canteen Management for banks and had a sharwarma Spot these weren’t part of the business when I am on board at Hunger Solace”
If you are to change something about yourself what would it be?
Indicate that you are happy, fulfilled and optimistic person and that in general you would not change a thing.
Example: “Its been a good life, rich in learning and experience, and the best is yet to come. Every experience in life is a lesson in its own way. I would change a thing”
There are times that I worry a lot, I wouldn’t call it worry but I am a strongly goal oriented person, SO I keep turning over in my mind anything that seems to be keeping me from achieving those goals, until I find a solution. That is part of my tenacity, I suppose but
Are you willing to relocate or travel?
Before you answer this question, find out where you may have to relocate and how much travel may be involved. Then respond to the question. If there is no problem, say so enthusiastically. If you have a reservation, there are two ways you can handle it.
One is to keep your options open and your reservation to yourself while the other is to voice your reservation but assert that you’d be open to relocating (or traveling) for the right opportunity .
Why do you have many jobs?
This is one area that I battled with. First, before you even get to the interview stage, you should try to minimize your image as a job hopper. If there are many entries on your CV of less than one year, consider eliminating the less important ones.  Perhaps you can specify the time you spent at previoud positions in rounded years and not in months and year.
E.G
6/1992 -3/1993 , Position A
4/1993-13/1993, Position B
1/1994- 8/1997 Position C
It would be better to show simply
1992 -1993 Position A
1994 -1997 Position C
In other words, you drop PosItion B altogether. Once you are in front of the interviewer and this question comes up, you must try to reassure him. Describe each position as part of an overall pattern of growth and career destination. Be careful not to blame other people for your frequent changes. But you can and should attribute certain changes to conditions beyond your control.
Example: Thanks to an upcoming merger, you wanted to avoid an ensuring bloodbath, so you made a good, upward career move before your department came under axe of the new owners.
If possible shoe that your job changes were more frequent in your younger days, while you were establishing yourself. At this state in your career, you are certainly more interested in the best long-term opportunity.
Would you lie for the company?
Try to avoid choosing between two values, giving a positive statement which coves all bases instead
Example: “I would never do anything to hurt the company”
If pressed to choose between two competing values, always choose personal integrity. It is the most prized of all values.
Could you have done better in your last job?
Again never be negative
What are your greatest weakness?
Disguise a strength as a weakness.
Example: “I sometimes push my people too hard. I like to work with a sense of urgency and everyone is not always on the same wavelength”
Assure the interviewer that you can think of nothing that would stand in the way of your performing in this position with excellence. Then quickly review your strongest qualifications.
Can you work under Pressure?
Absolutely.. (Then go a step further by proving it with a vivid example or two of a goal or project accomplished under severe pressure)
The Salary Question – How much money do you want?
For maximum salary negotiating power, remember these five guidelines. Never bring up salary. Let the interviewer do it first.  Make the interviewer want you first, and your bargaining position will be much stronger. Get the employer talking about what he is willing to pay you before you reveal what your willing to accept. So, when asked about salary, respond by asking; “I’m sure the company has already established a salary range for this position. Could you tell me what that is? Or “I want an income commensurate with my ability and qualifications. I trust you’ll be fair with me. What does the position pay?” or more simply “What does this position pay?”
Know beforehand what you’d accept. To know what’s reasonable, research the job market and this position for any relevant salary information. Remember that most executives look for a 20-25% pay boost when they switch jobs. If you are grossly underpaid, you may want more.
Never lie about what you currently make, but feel free to include the estimated cost of your fringes, which well track on 25-50% more to your present “
cash only” salary
Aren’t you overqualified for this position?
Don’t view this as a sign of imminent defeat. It’s an invitation to teach the interviewer a new way to think about this situation, seeing advantages instead of setbacks.
For example “I believe that there could be very positive benefits for both of us in this match. Because of my unusually strong experience , I could start to contribute right away, perhaps much faster than someone who’d have to be brought along more slowly”
“There’s also the value of all the training and years of experience that other companies have invested tens of thousands of thousands of naira to give me. You’d be getting all the value of that without having to pay an extra dime for it. With someone who has yet to acquire that experience, he’d have to gain it on your nickel”
“I could also help you in many they don’t teach. For example….(how to hire, train, motivate etc) When it comes to knowing how to work well with people and getting the most out of them. There is jut no substitute for what you learn over many years of front-line experience. Your company would gain all this, too.
“Most important, I’m looking to make a long term commitment in my career now. I’ve had enough of job-hunting and want a permanent spot at this point in my career. I also know that if I perform this job excellence, other opportunities cannot help but open up for me right here. In time, I’ll find many ways to help this company and in so doing, help myself. I really am looking to make a long-term commitment”
What would you do if a fellow executive on your own corporate level wasn’t pulling his/her weight… and this was hurting your department?
Try to gauge the political style  of the firm and be guided accordingly. In general , fall back on universal principles of effective human relations- which in the end, embody the way you would like to be treated in similar circumstances.
Example: “Good human relations would call for me to go directly to the person and explain the situation, to try to enlist his help in a constructive, positive solution. If I sensed resisted, I would be a persuasive as I know how to explain the benefits we can all gain from working together, and the problems we, the company and our customers will experience if we don’t”
AND what would you do if he still did not change his ways?
Answer: One thing I wouldn’t do is let the problem slide because It would only get worse and overlooking it would set a bad precedent. I would try again and again in whatever way I could, to solve the problem, involving wider and wider circles of people, both above and below the offending executive and including my own boss if necessary, so that everyone involved can see the rewards for teamwork and the drawbacks of non-cooperation”

Hon Ik Gobonna: E-Entrepreneurship
He spoke on ICT and opportunities that abound in the information Technology for our youths and the need for us to start doing things in an innovative way.
He advised the youths to calve a nitche for themselves and be well known. You must not be doing thing because everybody is doing the same thing.
“If you are a blogger, you have to do something very unique. Don’t go into politics because everyone is doing so. You could blog on fashion. Look at Linda Ikeji today, she blogs on gossip. I for one does not like gossip. I go for news. You can do something that is even bigger than what she has done.
No one has taught about E Directorate: Bringing a number of things together and everyone would pay for it. You could get into App development.
He explained that an Entrepreneur is a risk taker. He also defined a Social Entrepreneur: SE is one who wants to make and social change. Look around you and you will seek that problem that you can solve and make money from it.”

I want to use this opportunity to thank the organizers of  this programme. This event is well packaged to transform live.
2 Tim 1:6. To Stir up the gift of God that is in you.
I want to encourage you to ADD VALUE TO YOUR POTENTIALS.
There are so many potential in you. What is Potentials? Those endowments that God has deposited in you. They are your God given talent. They are Unique and freely given by God.  Have you been able to find out that which God has given to you?
You are empowered by heaven from birth. I want to encourage you to fan/stir up the gift of God in you. There are people when you look at them, you admire their lives. As I was growing up, I was asking how do  I impact the lives of others.  God gave me the vision of Mega youths Impacts Int. I also discovered that I love writing before you know it; I started writing my own books.
You have to discover then develop those talent.  Don’t dwell in ignorance.
Ignorance will make one stay with nobles and yet die miserable. God forbid that would  be your portion in this life.
Look inwards, you would find out that there is something in you that others can benefit from.    Become a life changer.
How do I know what am called to do?  Lets start with those things you have passion for.  What are the thing that inspires you?  Those  things you do and afterwards you have satisfaction is your call. I find out that any time that I speak to young people, it give me joy.
You created to be great in life so don’t settle for less. Don’t be a mediocre.
Who is a Mediocre?  Those whose potentials are not harnessed, they are satisfied with where they are. Life is about affecting the lives of other positively. Determine your own Value in order to realize your full potentials. There is always a place to start from. when Mr Ik Anyawu of Arise Afrika was giving his talk, he said that no one else will sing your song. Don’t stop at doing one thing, there are things you need to do that would help bring out the potentials in others.
Another thing is that you have to look up to God. The first step is to identify God. What have you  done in life and after doing that thing, you feel a certain kind of satisfaction? If you are given an opportunity to change something in your society, what would that be?  This generation is too loaded that they can never follow an empty mind. May your life never depreciates. Add value to your potentials and people would always appreciate you.

Most times in Africa we have this attitude about knowledge, \”What is this person going to say that I have not heard before\”  But  whenever you think you have arrived, that is when you have stopped arriving.   I admire people that feels they don’t know much and continues studying, researching , trying to learn more and develop themselves.
It\’s a great privilege to sit and hear from this great personalities who have poured out a lot from their experience to bless our lives.
I would like to share form  2 chronicles 2: 2 \”Had understanding of thee time, they knew what Isreal ought to do….”
The Hebrew word  used her for understanding deals with “ To have an insight and to add to prudence. To have a deep knowledge and that you understand the implication of the knowledge and you know how to relate with that knowledge. Being skillful to know how to make use of that theory you had                     The essence of this seminar is not just for us to have the head knowledge
Matthew 24 Jesus began to talk about what we ought to do when certain seasons shall appear \” there would be Wars, rumor of wars . There would be hunger. Increased wickedness in the world. If you are in this location, move to this other place. etc\”
Jesus was saying that we should begin to strategize ourselves when some things are happening.
Let\’ relate it to this recession period, this the time for us to get prepared. If you are going to be empowered business wise, you have to be prepared to understand the times and season we are in. You also need to be prepared spiritually as well as physically. Wisdom demands that you start doing certain things right. There is  need for empowerment that would sustain the human race. Not jut thinking about now, but the future. Go to interior places. You can start purchasing land from the villages, start going into agriculture, farming, fishery, poultry, start producing palm oil. There would come a time when the money you have would not have much value. So you should seek for ways to be self sustaining.
Recently I hosted a program \”Can Christians Kill in Times of War?\” I am not promoting Violence but then, But we have to posses an understanding of time, be well equipped in doing what God want us to do. I want to ensure that our people understand the times we are in and get well prepared. When we were staying in the Northern part of the country.  We were being persecuted;  at some point some people  knew when they ought to move.
So many people need to start listening to news, know what is happening around the world and especially in your immediate environment.
Part of my vision is to raise end time warriors, to empower youths and downtrodden women. I pray that God would release His Spirit upon you and cause you to do exploits wherever you are

DR KEN OBIAKOR
What does Entrepreneurship really mean?  You can only understand something that you have a  pre knowledge of. That is why we have primary, secondary and tertiary level of education. And it point of this education, we see some of this thing repeated to us.
If you bring an elephant and  fish and after teaching them,  you set a test to determine if they understood what they were taught.  But your test is for them to swim to know if they understood what you taught them. This would be very much unrealistic. We have what we call Individualized learning. you approach people at their level. From what they know.
I want to have an idea of what you know about entrepreneurship . There is need to go into a business in order to change your environment.  For me an Entrepreneur is someone who goes out there to solve a problem.
\”Nku nu na mba, na eyere mba nri\” A human being does not like discomfort.  But for you to be an Entrepreneur,  you have to move away from your comfort zone . Change is natural.
A human being from Igbo language \”nmadu\’  meaning the Beauty of life.  It is not only in the church that things like this are taught. Entrepreneurship is when you look at your society. You leave that place and go to another place. Move from one location to another, you look at what you can do to better the environment and society where you find yourself.
DEFINITION:Ability to create something that was not there before this is the philosophy of Entrepreneurship. Most people don’t really understand what it means to make a choice. You have not come into existence until you make a choice. There has to be a mental detachment from the main scene. Why is it that a coach who is not in the field playing with the players would see what they are doing and make a change after which it would change entirely the whole game. For you to have a good grip of life, you need to detach. It is not just starting something. It is looking at the society and seeing a need which you would want to supply. Another way of moving away from your society is through a book. When you read  it opens up your mind. Broadens your horizon in life.
When you buy an IPod it is empty, you have to put the music and download everything you like in it. Life is like an iPod. A human being is like an IPod. It is the things that you download into the human being that it could play out. What you supply to the human being is what he would process. There is something inside of you, which you have to go bring out and give to the world.

Hon Prince Odunze
\”When you empower an individual, you transform a whole community\” ..Hon Prince Odunze
An Entrepreneur is someone that has a different mindset. That looks at thing differently. He is someone who is into problem solving. You can create an App that aide in employment, or an encyclopedia on solution. IF one million people download that App that would be lots of money .
It is my desire and passion to mentor our youths. We would soon have TWO WEEKs of camping/Training by the time people leave the place, they must have gotten a business name, a website and a business Plan and they will be ready to conquer the world.
It\’ quite shocking how we do things here, what we call empowerment here is giving people money.       In Uk, we gather people and teach them how to fish instead of giving people fish.
There are over  1.10 billlion people are in the world. Think of creating something that would solve a problem. Share information and see how it would go a long way to transform the society. But the truth is that  most time we see that  we are quite greedy with our knowledge, why are we hording information.
One of the successful business today is network marketing.  When you look at even how some of this businesses are tailored:  they network with others in order to succeed. When I came 5m, and you have 5m and another person has 5m when we come together to do business.  We are no longer looking at a 5 million business but 15 million. There is greater capacity in coming together. So I encourage you to build capacity and also synergize, network.

You have to see yourself as a brand. What is the difference between Vasachi, Gucci and the tailor down the street? The same shirt you could have bought 100 pounds can be bought 2,000 pound. It\’ all abut packaging. You enter a shop and then treated as a king. The kind of smile you get right from the door is so much that you end up not remembering how much you are parting with for the services rendered to you.

This world is full of opportunities. Some of the challenges people are having, find a solution to it. Fix your prince on it

Please permit me to stand on the existing protocol
May I begin by thanking the Almighty God for his love, kindness and protections on us. We are all aware that a lot is happening today resulting that not all the people whom we said “Happy New Year” with at the beginning of the year are still alive. It is evident that our survival and life is purely at the mercy and grace of God.
It’s a great privilege to stand before you to make this presentation to re-engineer the mindsets of our youths as regards sustaining themselves in their immediate communities.  I stand here to encourage our youths to take up roles that would make for positivism and self sustaining abilities.  To put an end to this mad quest for white collar jobs and seek for ways of exploring/ leveraging on their entrepreneur skills.  I appreciate the founder of Mercy Streams Foundations for her foresight and for partnering with Arise Afrika on this Entrepreneurship Seminar/Skill Acquisition and for making it free so that everyone can partake.

I see this as a golden opportunity to fulfill my dreams and life purpose which is to mentor and empower the youths.  Our vision is to educate, equip and empower our people. As a licensed/ordained minister of the gospel and a patriotic citizen of Imo State, I have within the limit of my resources contributed my quota towards the development of Imo State, my state of origin and would always do.  I believe in the youths, I believe in myself that is I why I am here to share with the youths because the future belong to the youths.
A lot of global billionaires are being raised all over the world today THROUGH E – Entrepreneurship.
Who is an Entrepreneur?
It refers to a person who has an innovative business idea. A risk taker who takes a role of a leader and assumes full responsibility for its execution, success or failure.
Begin with a problem that needs to be solved in the society.  For you to achieve success you must have a good understanding of financial management. You need also skills needs to be developed.
SKILLS OF ENTREPRENEUR: Leverage,  Creativity, Persistence, Focused, Control, Expandability, Intelligent, Management “savvy”, Integrity, Positive attitude, Confidence etc.
After this talk, I hope to inspire the necessary confidence you need to step out and succede in whatever chosen field.
Today’s training/seminar  will be focusing on the Making of millionaires through E-Entrepreneurship. I have networked other experts in the entrepreneur field who will still share their experiences with us after  my paper presentation.  There would be practical training/ workshop on the following: Vocational, agricultural skills: farming, fishery, poultry .  Computer maintenance.  Liquid soap production, perfume & bleach making. Confectioneries:   Baking of meat pie, Cakes, Pizza. Culinary Skills: Cooking. Event Management and Decoration will be used to empower our youths.
Before I proceed, Please permit me to give credits to the following who allowed me to use their works, Omeleto, Hon Ugoeze Okwudinma, Prof BEB Nwoke & Greenbrain. I will Share with you quote from OMELETO [Video Plays]
Its not death that most people are scared of. It is getting to the end of life. only to discover that you never truly lived.
There was a study done of 130 elderly people on their sick bed. facing death, close to their last breath. They were asked to reflect about their life\’s biggest regret. Nearly all of them said, they regretted not the things they did but the things they didn\’t do. The risks they never took. The dreams they didn\’t pursue. I ask you would your last words be?  \” If only I had…\”
Hey you …\”WAKE UP\” why do you exist. Life is not meant to simply work wait for the weekend and pay rent. I dont know much but I know this, everybody in this world has a gift. And I apologize to the black community. But I can no longer pretend. Martin Luther King? That man never had a dream. THAT DREAM HAD HIM. People dont choose dreams. Dreams chose them. So the question am getting to is do you have the courage to grab the dream that picked you? That befits you that grips you or will you let it get away and slip through.
You know I learnt a fact about airplane the other day. Now this was so surprising. I was talking to a pilot and he told me many of his passengers think planes are dangerous to fly in but he said it is more dangerous for plane to stay on the ground. I said, \”What? Like, how does that sound?\’ well he said because on the ground the plane starts to RUST, MALFUNCTION and WEAR out more faster that it ever would if it was in the air. As I walked away, I thought \”yeah makes total sense\” because Planes were built to stay in the skies. And every person was built to live out the dream they have inside. So it is, perhaps the saddest loss to live the life on the ground without ever taking off.
See must of us are afraid of the thief that comes in the night to steal our things. But there is a thief in your mind who is after your dreams.  His name is doubt. keep doubt away. Because he is wanted for murder. For he has killed more dreams than failure ever did. He wears many disguises and like a virus, will leave you blinded, divided and turn you into a \”kinda\”. See Kinda is lethal, You know what a kinda is , there is a lot of kinda people. You kinda want a career change. You kinda want to get straight As. You kinda want to get in shape. It\’s a simple match no numbers to crunch. If you kinda want something. then you will kinda gwt the results you want.
What is your dream? What ignites that spark? You can\’t kinda want that. You gotta want it with every part of your whole heart. Will you struggle? Yeah, yeah. You will struggle. No way around it. You will fall many times but who is counting. Just remember there is no such thing as a smooth mountain. If you want to make it to the top then there are sharp ridges that must be stepped over. There will be times you get stressed and things you get depressed over but let me tell you something:
Steven Spielberg was rejected from film school three times. Three times, but he kept going.
The television executives fired Oprah Winfred that she wasn’t fit for TV but she kept going.
critics told Beyonce that she couldn\’t sing. She went through depression but she kept going. STRUGGLE & CRITICISM are prerequisite for greatness. That is the law of this universe and no one escapes it. Because pain is life. But you can choose what type. Either the pain on the road to success or the pain of being haunted with regret.
Do you want my advice, don’t think twice. We have all been given a gift and that is called lifeso don\’t blow it. You are not defined by your past. Instead, you are born anew in each moment. So own it NOW. Sometimes you got to leap and grow your wings on the way down. You better get the show off before the clock runs out. Because isn’t any overtime in life. No do over and I know I sound like I\’m preaching or speaking with force But if you don’t use your gift you sell not only yourself but the whole world. So what invention do you have buried in your mind. What idea, what cure, what skill do you have inside to bring out to this universe? Uni = One Verse= Song. You have a part to play in this song. So grap that microphone and be brave. Sing your heat out on life\’s stage. You can not go back and make a brand new beginning.  But you can start now and make a brand new ending.”  {…..unquote Omelote}
Everyone knows that the youths of today are more exposed than their kinds of yesterdays. We should therefore stop seeing our youths as unenlightened or ignorant.
I  would be organizing more Seminar/ training like so that people can start playing significant roles to save our future by engaging in entrepreneurship skills via  making use of their God given talents. Leave a purposeful and meaningful life not just existing to “pay rent”. We are all part of this universe and it’s about time someone takes up his/her microphone on the life stage and sing out his/her song. Each one of us have a song. And  to  play significant roles to save our future.
SINGS: “ No one else can preach your sermon. No one can else,  can sing your song.
No one else can do what God has chosen you to do. Your gift were given from above. Your Blessings from the father love so use your gift to the glory of God.”
In preparing this talk,  I have tried not to appear political, academical but to be a life coach. This is because I  know there are speakers that are more suited for that purpose than myself.  I am an exceptional person; my orientation cannot be well captured by mere rhetoric or theories but to share with you from my orientations and beliefs – based on my own personal experiences and interactions at each stage in life.
We have been around and also seen a lot but the truth is that things have not always been easy.    I have also suffered, sacrificed and benefited(Like we heard from Omeleto above).  Everyone should sacrifice in order to reap a bounty harvest thereafter. This does not speak of selling your body or selling your soul to the devil in quest to make money. Several other things contributed in shaping my personality/ life today.  I have lived and believed it. And this is what has helped me in life:  – the firm believe that my own destiny lies in my own hands
WHO CAN BE AN ENTREPRENEUR?
I know everyone can attain greatness in life. Anyone can become an entrepreneur. The problem is do you believe that you can? Are you prepared to take the bold steps required? This are questions only you can answer.  Yes it all begins from your mind, what do you see?
ENTREPRENEURSHIP SKILLS OF NDI IGBO
Before our people enunciated far-sighted initiatives that served our people well not just in the field of agriculture but also in the larger area of human development.
This work has gone on “this excursion into the past not merely to romanticize the proverbial “good old days” but more importantly to call painful attention the road not taken in our subsequent quest for national development.
It has been argued with some merit, that I only we recreate our cherished ethical values and return to the standards and achievements of those good old years, that would be a tremendous breakthrough indeed.  And this can be achieve if we consciously and strategically begin to inculcate through MENTORING . I wish to submit that lack of adequate preparation especially in public life and business endeavors is a critical missing link in our search for solutions.

BUSINESS SENSE & THINKING BEYOND YOU AS AN ENTREPRENEUR
It\’s ok to seek for personal gains and fame of your firm but it\’s of utmost importance that every entrepreneur or would-be entrepreneur should think about his chosen business or initiative more as a gift to the entire world which he or she has been made a custodian of rather than just an idea for personal aggrandizement.
This is a mindset of big-time business people and inventors.  It\’s far better to start in time to think of how the world can benefit from what you have to offer rather than centering your thoughts on what the world has to offer to benefit from what you have.
When your business sense primarily focuses on adding value before taking value from society,  then you will make decisions that will stand the test of time and test of greed.
Secondly you must have to think beyond your time.  What will become of the firm you are building in the next 20 year, then the next 50 years,  then the next 100 years.
Is your business just to exist as long as you live or will it continue for generations to come?
Thinking in this perspective will enable you frame your firm around certain core values and objectives that will stand firm in winds and in storms.
For a business or brand to last for decades  or centuries after the founder is gone,  one major value it must be built on us integrity.
Integrity is forged in the fire of truthfulness and consistency.  Truth can be buried, attacked,  libelled, slandered against,  kicked and ridiculed but at the end of all these,  truth will still survive and will become stronger and shine brighter each time.
By consistency, I don\’t mean remaining stagnant on outdated ways of doing things.  I mean,  if you are known for making the best bread is town,  don\’t ever make good bread.
Another major value a business that will thrive beyond you must have is Satisfaction of all clients (as much as possible).  One fully satisfied client is better than 10 unsatisfied clients… In the long run.
This is very important to take note of especially for young entrepreneurs who might be lucky to get overwhelmed by rush of clients at the beginning of their business.
They might rush the job or deliver goods that are not satisfactorily done all in the bid to attend to all the customers in a short time and seemingly prove your speed.
In as much as speed of completion is complimented, it is better you take your time to deliver a satisfactory or even excellent service or good than to rush and deliver something the client will frown at.
POWER OF VISION & ENTERPRISE
Whether you succeed or not depends on your mindset. It all begins in your mind. A future you cannot picture, you cannot FEATURE in.  Do you have the mind set that you can make it or do you see failure even before you start. Make your choice and know consequently that you have no right to blame it on others.
without Vision, my people perish” Bible
DON’T LOOSE FOCUS/DANGERS
There are several distractions on a mans ways  to success which tends to cause one to loose focus and via off the tract. Recently a notorious criminal Vampire was shot dead. I followed on the social media and had a young man comment that it is the society that made an innocent baby that was born to turn into a criminal.
For me there are other flits like peer pressure, hard drugs addition which pollutes the mind.
“Man is the product of either his/her right thinking”  After taking drugs they keep getting high until their mind looses focus. So stay out of hard drugs.
What would be the fate of Nigeria in the next 30 years if things continue this way? Should we continue to depend on white collar jobs that are nonexistent?
This questions and may more bugs me each day.  Today’s world seems to be more comfortable than before while we were growing up.  In no distant past, I remember while growing up, we usually go to my grandmothers farm land to cultivate and work in the farm.  This we look forward to back then. She prepared all sorts of delicacies and takes everything with her in a basket to the farm, if you dare stay in the house. You would miss food for that day. Teaching us the principle of hard work. The woman lived more than 130 years on this earth and was just buried a couple of months back. These people lived long because they worked hard.
Back then, people do manual jobs to better the life of their families but that is not the case now. our youths are too lazy to help themselves grow. They want to sit back and assume things will work for them. They want white collar jobs than to explore their entrepreneurship skills. They do not value entrepreneurship programs. Some choose the fast lane in life only to regret it later.  I bet you if we were doing a comedy show, or dance dance this place would be so filled up that there would not be space. They spend precious and quality time on the social media like face book, twitter chatting and doing worthless things. Time is the currency on which we are trading with in this life.
Even some go into ill gotten money but soon find out that it better to follow after hard work, tenacity. You can imagine what Nigeria and it Citizens would look like if we all value hard work. I don’t want to over play the blame game. No one person, economy or government can make you great.  It firmly lies in your mind and then your own hands. If you can dream to be great it, you can achieve it no matter how long it takes.
For those whose conscience would listen to reason know that it is best to first load your mind with things that would make it active and productive.
Learn to exercise appropriate will and power over your mind. The content of ones mind would determine who he or she  is and ultimately would be in life.  You can dream for yourself and work at becoming an exceptional persons. I have always dreamed of being where I am today.  I worked at it and here I am today. Though I come from a comfortable family, life has not always been rosy. I have at some time sold, become apprentice, learned the ropes, become a manager at one of the best Quick service Restaurants(Fast food), I have had challenges in the industry (ups & down). But I persisted. I worked in the industry for 13 years and after learning the ropes, I established my own brand Sommies Foods Limited, GCFN Consult & Afrise Afrika.   Now I offer consulting services, mentoring and coaching people to become the best in whatever they are doing.
AVOID DISTRACTIONS
How many can turn down a job of 50k, 60K or 70K knowing that you would be still be a SAN (Senior Applicant of Nigeria) If you place a value on yourself, its not all job offer that comes your way you would take.
Immediately I took the decision to start up as an entrepreneurs, an offer came  from one of an employer to give me a percentage of profit on the business, If I can agree to come and work with him.  But I declined the offer.
To say that I quit a regular job to start being an entrepreneur in an economic meltdown and recession made no sense to anyone but my mind is made up.
What informed that decision was VISION , and need to maintain focus. It might interest you to note that in this RECESSION & high inflation period. The worst hit are people with static incomes. But if you understand the law on COMPOUND INTEREST – You would go far as an entrepreneur.
Did I have it all?  no.  But I could not sacrifice this dream I had to ensure platforms like this are created so as to affect lives.
Like I said earlier, even in my business success in life, there where times I had some hike ups. But I  never allowed my travails to subdue me or my quest for greatness.  Although some see me and think that I am doing well but I believe that I can be better. It takes a stable mind and personal determinations to achieve greatness in entrepreneurship field.
When your mind is sound and focused you would not blame the govt or society . You would see yourself as part of those to solve the problems in the society. you would dream dreams to salvage the situation. People would see how good you are trying but then they would trust you. Remember God said “ I will bless the work of your hands” .   But you have to something that He would bless.
I would say to everyone please and please stop celebrating mediocrity. You only end up loosing confidence in what we can do. We can become more creative and grow.
Have it at the back of your mind that Success cannot be achieved in isolation. But through teamwork and altruistic spirit.  Challenge any barrier that stand on your way to success.
In all of these we should imbibe the culture of unity, love for one another, mutual tolerance and peace.
TO THE YOUTHS
I will again say Train and empower your mind right. Have power over your mind So as to provide opening for the right kind of dreams, be law abiding , acquire practical skills that would help make you independent and self sufficient in life.  See yourself as the only architect of your success after God.
Aspire and work hard towards exploring your abilities and skills, this would help you to package yourself and be more ready and help you gain advantage over others while job hunting for the future. The secret to your future lies in those things that you love doing. So the earlier you discover it the better for you.
Let me appeal to those who have achieved in life. See yourself as a catalyst positioned by posterity to  assist young people to maximize their potentials so as to achieve success in life.
When this becomes our mindset, we would find that it’s easier to change the world and convince other to do the same.
No matter how well meaning the society or Govt policies may be. You cannot achieve much except your mind stays focused.  Sacrifice now a little to reap more thereafter, there are no smother way to reach success in life. It worked for me and it can work for you too.
Be  Objective, constructive, diligent, faithful, Loyal, self confident, willingly to sacrifice, don’t eat your future now. Don’t be like Esau who sold his birth right for pottage and when he sought for it, he did with tears but could not get it back.
SOME FUNDAMENTAL VIRTUES OF ENTREPRENEURS:
Definition: a virtue is a trait or quality deemed to be morally good and they is valued as a foundation of principle and good moral being. Opposite of virtue is vice.
Some of the fundamental virtues that has helped entrepreneurs to survive are : Hard work, Spirit of Adventure. Tenacity of purpose,
The success of a man is judged by his ability to deny himself of certain necessities of life so as to be able to raise the capital to establish himself in business, education, commerce and industry. Of course such a success also calls for hard work, and spirit of adventure as earlier pointed out.
They are highly optimistic, not pessimist. Believing at all times that the future will be better.
{1} ENTREPRENEURS ARE EFFECTIVE LEADERS : they maintain focus because they have the power of vision and enterprise.
 VISION  & ENTERPRISE
Let me firstly offer various definitions of Vision
  • The act or power of sensing with the eyes, sight
  • The act or power of anticipating that which will or may come to be. Prophetic vision, vision of an Entrepreneur.
  • An experience in which a personage, thing or event appears vividly or credibly to the mind, although not actually present, often under the influence of a divine of other agency:
  • A vivid, imaginative conception or anticipation, vision of wealth and glory.
QUOTES ON VISION
A leader has the vision and the conviction that a dream can be achieved. He inspires the power and the energy to get it done.” Ralp Lauren
The vision that you glorify in your mind, the ideal that you enthrone in your heart, this you would build your life by, and this you will become.
The empires of the future are the empires of the mind” Winston Churchill
“Where there is no Vision the people perish” Prov 29:18
Vision refers to the “act of seeing” or “ability to see” Hence a person of vision is simply seen to be one with an impressive foresight.
RELATIONSHIP BTW VISION & MISSION
Vision differs from but complements mission
>Mission: states the basic purpose of your company, defines its relationship to other organizations and constituencies and sets general objectives.
>Vision: builds on this statements to describe the future size, shape and texture of the organization
An Entrepreneur is A Visionary person who constantly paints a picture of how things should be which ultimately leaves him with some mental guidance and direction.
On the other hand a person that lacks vision dwells only on the immediate and often lacks the energy and courage to pursue the ideal.
>Entrepreneurs understand the word “globalization” I had the vision of GCFN way back in secondary school I was already into events management. I hosted crusades at Ngwa High School as the Chaplain & President of Scripture union. I drew a picture of the world with a circle around it and people sited down. If I share with you article of association I wrote for the body back then, you would not believe it came to me as a child. It was an interrelated of parts making up a whole in a circle of friends that all my friends where we are will be in touch with other…. God gave me Facebook before it came to existence.
Globalization: If you don’t say you are existing, nobody will know that you are.  Explore technologies, marketing to your advantage {that’s dif between Facebook and my friend) understand how to use networking to your advantage. You can confirm something in London right here in Nigeria through google map. Globalization has introduced flow of information. We are in an informational based society. Everything has gone digital. that is why you need a website as an entrepreneur.
>Make yourself so valuable. “Is there anything that I can do for you” Invest in yourself.
Personal development: Vision, Integrity, Passion, Innovation, Courage, Intellectual capacity, Inspiration
>Entrepreneurs are good communicators. You must understand verbal and non verbal. In times of crises what makes you succeed is your ability to speak.

TALENTS ARE FROM God make good use of them. Be nuged by your inner potentials.

{2} ENTREPRENEURS are bold and courageous, risk takers
{3}ENTREPRENEURS are ready to suffer today to gain tomorrow. Not enjoy now and suffer later. Obasanjo as big as he  is has a Farm. Buhari as a president has a Farm. Most of are so lazy that is why they can never be entrepreneurs. But do you know that you can make millions through fish farming. { When you buy fingerlings. It takes 4 months for it to mature to a full 1 kg and you would make lots of money because we are consuming community. }
{4}ENTREPRENEURS have a good interpersonal relationship with workers. Leave your door open and takes inputs from everyone. If a cleaner does not do his/her work, I bet you as the Ceo you would have a bad day and be quite uncomfortable in your office and not able to perform optimally in his work.
{5}ENTREPRENEURS don’t give up.During our last Imo Student Leadership Summit,  our Chief of Staff Uche Nwosu shared with us how he once sold Ice water at Aba while growing up. When he comes back from school, immediately he dropped his bag and picked up his tray to go and hawk so and to support the mum.  He lost his father and afterwards his senior brother too and had to do this to support the family. Today he is a success. Entrepreneurs see dreams from dreams to reality.
{6}ENTREPRENEURS ARE LIKE EAGLES. A close look on this great bird would reveal the following characteristics :   >The monarch of the sky   >Perfect Flying machine
>Eagle-eyes persons are capable of seeing to a great distance.
>They are focused: Keeps his mind on the task and hand very good at the job.
>Not easily distracted           >Strategic approach in pursuit
{7} ENTREPRENEURS are persistent
Keeping at it gets the result done. Albert Eistens tried and at the 100th time he succeeded with the light.
STORY ABOUT BOB PETIS,  5 FEET 7 INCHES TALL. TRIED FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, & BASE BALL but never gave up.  Joined Church team. Later rose up to become a champion. Sensing the potential power in him, he simply would not give up . He did not have natural strength but daily he exercised to build up legs and arms. He did this faithfully until he became great.

Recap:
Make sure your business is built to serve the masses first before serving your bank account.  But remember your bank account also.
Map out value system that can ensure your business will last beyond you.  That\’s if you deem it necessary.  You can start with building the business around integrity.
ADVICE TO THE LEADERS/GOVT: Let me use this opportunity to thank the leadership of Imo state for their efforts towards development in the state. However, I want to advise them to be more proactive and show concern to the plights of the common masses. Let them concentrate on making laws and policies that would enhance better living standards of the masses by alleviating their sufferings and more importantly leaving lasting legacies for which they would be remembered long after they left the corridors of power like Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Dr M.I Okpara, Late Sam Mbakwe. Let us known that a good name is better than silver and gold and if we deprive people of their rights to acquire wealth, we will one day leave the world and ill-gotten wealth behind.
CONCLUSION
Once again may I thank everyone here today for identifying with us. I shall continue to do my best within my meager resources towards alleviating the sufferings and hardship of the people in the society.
I shall not hesitate to offer my services, advice and prayers where and when needed towards the well-being of my people.
I shall continue to use my publication to advice the government and also correct certain ills in our society today which is contrary to our culture. I pray the Almighty God to bless Imo State and continue to give wisdom and strength to its leaders with the view to making it the leading state in Nigeria.
We shall continue the industrial revolution.
Ladies and gentlemen, lets nurture and produce entrepreneurs who are ready to make use of their God given potentials. This is the way forward to this recession, consequently stimulating the future economic growth of our country. This is the change we need

Do you cheat on others?” …..Ik Anyanwu
